Post WII
OK so... I am getting a WII for Xmas from my mom - well it is a combined gift for Satis and I. But he does not want it so... (for the record I just want to play with the lightsaber as I am a HUGE star wars nut). Anyone have one or have frind who have one that can recommend some decent games for them? Or accessories?

I would like to start off with only like 2-3 higher priced games and maybe a few like 4-5 cheaper games as this will likely bored me after 3 months and be a reasonably expensive paperweight.

Thanks for any suggestions you all have! I LUVS YAS!

My brother has one, and my sister-in-law got one recently, dunno what games she has though. She will buy the snowboard game, but you need the balance board for that.

Don't know what my brother plays either. I'll ask him.

Get Wii sports if it isn't included (always nice to beat Satis with tennis i guess, or with boxing) that should be cheap as well i think.

If i'd have one, i'd buy Zelda, but that's because i've always been a zelda fan since the NES.

I figure at least 1 zelda and one mario game are practically required. :)

Sorry, I'm not much of a Wii person either...not that I dislike the platform per se, but I don't have the cash to buy one. Maybe Suga can help, she's the resident Nintendo girl. ;)

And...I never played a Zelda game *ducks for cover*

lol, don't worry, I've never owned any Nintendo console. Any games I did play were on some friend's console. So though I've played it, I've barely played it, and never to completion.

I guess my sister and an N64 or something. But she didn't have Zelda. Hell, the only game I remember her having is Mario Cart.

I never owned a Nintendo console either. Or a handheld.

Consoles I owned or co-owned: Atari 2600, playstation 2, Xbox 360.

I'm pretty old school/PC.

Like you, most of the old NES classics I played at a friend's place. I especially liked the Turtles game.

And of course I used to rock the luna parks in Street Fighter etc

ah. I owned the Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, PS1 and now XBox-360. That's about it. It's a decent sampling, I suppose. My favorite would probably be the Genesis... I remember getting less-than-sober in high school and playing the shit out of Mortal Combat with my friends. We were freakin' masters.

Haha, memories. I used to play Mortal Kombat with friends too, on their Sega Megadrive. I always played sub-zero. But I sucked pretty hard really.

For some reason I am a lot better at MK style fighting games than when I was younger. I like to think it's because I realized that almost all 'special moves' are virtually pointless, and that focusing on good defense and the basic moves is a much better tactic. Low kick ownz u in almost every fighting game. It's come this far that my brothers refuse to play any games against me except racing games. They think I'm totally lame. They're probably right.

Wii Sports frigging rules, if you find a Wii without it, don't buy it. They are packaged with it from Nintendo and anyone selling them seperately is ripping you off.

As for other games, I've had one since launch and I only touch it if friends are round. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but for singleplayer games... well I'm more inclined to play the 360 or my PC. Some I would definately recommend though: any of the Rayman Raving Rabbids (only played the first one but huge fun), Mariokart (awesome online play too), Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (really, really tires you out!), Red Steel (singleplayer but still fun, and you can do a deathmatch type thing though I haven't tried it), Legend of Zelda (if you like your rpgs you can't go wrong with Zelda)

Oh and if you want to play with the lightsaber, Force Unleashed and/or Clone Wars would probably be good ;) Or any of the Lego games actually, apparently they're really, really fun.

^^ What pevil said. :P

Wii Sport is amazing fun. 4 player tennis is a fav of mine. Mario Kart, awesome. Zelda is great fun too.

WiiFit... might be a bit of a gimmick, but man it was fun to watch my dad try and do yoga on the balance board...
