With the release of the medic achievements, they already had a free weeekend. And now that they give they pyro his update, new free weekend. So if you want to try out this game, this weekend is a good opportunity. Although it will probably be crawling with noobs and pyros, so you wont' get a good impression of the 'team' aspect. Still a cheap way to see if you could like the game.

"Valve has announced that there will be a slew of new updates for Team Fortress 2. The first update will be made to the Pyro who will get three new unlockable weapons, 35 new achievements, and two user-created maps. After the Pyro update, players can expect to see a new "Meet the Team" video short detailing the Sniper on June 17th at 11AM PDT. Argh...all this achievements stuff is making me physically ill. On the one hand I'm happy that they're trying to perfect TFC2 but seriously...wtf? I have better things to do than getting achievements...not a lot, but I do.

Problem with several achievements is that they're just stupid.

I doubt I'll play it...free weekend is kinda pointless when you own the game. :p EVE and Conan are keeping me busy, anyway.

Seems like TF2 needs more people for it's community. I haven't played it for a few months, i log in and see that they have 'guest passes' now. So i can invite people, they'll get 3 days to play the game (free obv).

Dunno if anyone is interested, if you are just let me know. I have 1 pass.

I'm gonna have to pass J...don't have a pc that can handle TF2 atm. But if I did, I would have been up for it! But tbh, I'll probably just buy the entire orange box myself when I do.

Is TF2 still enjoyable with the achievements crap?

Well i hadn't played for a while. Yesterday i noticed that there's a new upgrade for heavies now as well, dunno what kind of new weapons they have though.

Achievements don't change much, just that you can have other weapons. But in general you're not underpowered if you don't have the upgrades. So in general it's a good thing. Just that some achievements are near (or totally) impossible to acquire through normal game play.

I still enjoy it when i play.
