List @ Actiontrip by Actiontrip

Although its an interestin read, the list itself shows that, well they really dont know shit about gaming history.

And wtf is that thing placed nr1. I mean, really, i can name only one thing that game has achieved. It has managed to pull the biggest number of morons onto its servers. It has hardly influenced the genre or gaming history.

I know this is a PC gaming website so you love your PC games. However, please don't make a top 10 list for PC RPGs and MMORPGS and say it is for PC and consoles. Makes you look stupid. WoW gets 1st place on an RPG list? Right... You do realize it's only three yeras old and it's an MMORPG? The one true console series on this joke of a list is Final Fantasy, the god father of RPGs, and it's 9th. And to add insult to injury, Planescape is higher up the list! It's crap like this that reminds me, I only come to AT for my shits and giggles.

What a moron.

lol moron indeed, considering most rpgs are either pc exclusive or on pc as well as consoles.

Gotta say that list is rubbish. First of all WoW, while being an rpg, is not deserving of the top. It is NO different to EQ2, there is not one thing that makes it 'stand out' apart from the branding, so if either of them should be on the list it should be EQ2 (which shouldn't be there either ;)). Guild Wars would be better suited to the listing than WoW (though low in the list if it was) Diablo? Ok no, sorry, yes its a fantastic game, I love it to pieces, but its an Action RPG, not a true RPG. I wouldn't even think of putting Sacred onto a top RPG list and that in my opinion is better than Diablo and the exact same kind of game.

FF yeah, had to be there, Morrowind and BG of course, and very glad to see Ultima in there. Fable too, but some of that list is complete bollocks.

Actually morrowind shouldnt be there, Its predecessor Darkfall or whatever that thing was should be there. Because Morrowind just updated the graphics and such but the free roam and be what you want to be stuff was there before it.

MMO side wow shouldnt be in any list at all, i mean it has just copied everything you can think of from other mmos. If there is any MMO that deserves a place on that list its Ultima Online. Not only because it was the first, but the fact that is still running and still going strong.

Even Dune 1 deserves a better place than WoW.

Ye you go on believe that.

Im sorry but wtf did Fable influence? I mean its a nice game but nothing we hadnt seen before. And where is the Might and Magic series thats been around since the dawn of computer games.

Man, that list is indeed bollocks. Diablo is only an RPG if you have an IQ below 90, and 80% of the other games on the list didn't exactly "influence" anything even though they may be excellent RPG's in their own right.

In terms of inlfuencing others only a few titles on there deserve to be in that list

-the BG series
-Fallout series
-The Elder Scrolls series
-the Ultima series

FF didn't influence anything but its own 1655 successors, KOTOR was a massive game but didn't "influence" either; etc. And WoW is just a (very good) melting pot of RPG ideas that already existed.

Now we're talking! I've always been a big Zelda-fan, although i haven't played their latest developments. Or maybe it's just nostalgia speaking.
