To be honest I'm not yet overly impressed, but at least it's no MMORPG as rumoured.

No doubt they're gonna give it the whole 3D treatment to which I continually oppose in RTS's. I'm wondering if they're gonna give this a new spin or simply just release something a la MoH.

No, it's an RTS made by Blizzard. I'm more fan of Warcraft, but making strategy games is something you can leave to Blizzard. I don't understand what's wrong with 3d, it allows for more flexibility in map design and we're far past the point where making a game 3d is only a game gimmick. There were plenty of poor 2d RTS games too you know.

Civ's not real time strategy, it's turn based. Total War is off course half turn-based, you could see it as a mix of Civ and Command & Conquer (or Warcraft or any other RTS).

RTS have become so boring, SupCom is a good example, i tried it for like 10minutes and that was it. Imo the last interesting RTS was Dune 2.

I've played Caesar4, Company of Heroes, and AOE III. In none of them did I ever find the need to use the 3d.

hehe yeah thats why they're different (imo) Arathorn. All your true rts tend to be the same pretty much though. Oh, except Settlers til they buggered it up with #5... bastards.

You gotta check this. A demonstration of the SC2 mod tools from Blizzcon - pretty amazing.
