Some group of people reverse engineered SWG. Pre-CU. They made a test server and where able to log into it.

I think legally as long as this company doesnt charge money SOE cant do shit.

I had a friend who ran a Linage 2 server. He said Ncsoft cant sue him unless he charges a fee.

Its kinda like. If you go buy a movie you can show it to anyone, you just cant copy and resell it.

well, there's the LucasArts problem... the Star Wars name, characters, settings, etc are all the IP of Lucas Arts and can't be used without their express permission.

As for the game, if SOE can "prove" that SWGemu is hurting their business, even if it's free, it could be illegal. Bleh, I don't care about the legality problems. I just want it to work. Hell, I'd run a shard off my extra box and my fiber connection if I could. That would be badass running my own personal galaxy (preferably with other people, of course).
