Since there wasn't really a topic for this incredible-looking game (there was one for screenshots about it but hey) I decided to create an expectation thread. ![]() I've been reading up on this game a lot lately (pretty much coordinating my upgrading around a potential release during the holidays even), and it just seems to look/sound better and better with every interview I read. The graphics, the gameplay, new features, the Radiant AI, physics...it looks like the whole package. If it proves to be half as good as it looks a lot of people will disappear from the face of the earth for a few months, methinks. ![]() Here are some good, long interviews linkie linko Some excerpts on their Radiant AI (ie largely non-scripted AI)
I could quote pretty much everything in the interviews, but I'll leave it at this. hehe. I also love that they implemented a lot of Daggerfall stuff in the game, like mounts and buying houses and even fast travel. Feel free to ask me any questions as I've read just about all the info there is on the game so far...spares you the effort to go look up stuff yourself. |

hehe @ Peltz...I hope it's because Bethesda will manage to deliver a bug-free product for once, but that's a distant illusion. ![]() Bj...it's 1000% certain that it's a standalone game ![]() http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/the ... index.html Ooh, another cool quote btw: [quote]Could you detail for us how the forests in the game were constructed, and how this was integrated into the rest of the game? It’s one of those things we’ve always wanted to do in a game – full real-time forests for you to explore. Our tech for creating forests is something we spent a long time on. We’re combining procedural generation of landscape (based on its soil type and years of erosion), trees (based on species and random growth clustering), and grass (base on regional patterns) to create some really amazing areas. Combine this with full canopy shadows from the trees and it really takes you to another place. As far as gameplay – a forest really is one of the richest environments you could explore. The dynamic compass helps you find things because the first thing we experience with the forest was “I’m lost.†|

You really didn't hear much about Oblivion before? ![]() ![]() There's no official word on the systems reqs yet (Bethesda is still streamlining the game for best performance so they don't know for sure), but it's been hinted several times that they are going to be HIGH. Not really a surprise when you look at the screens, either. ![]()
Anyway, for more screen check out the elder scrolls site itself http://www.elderscrolls.com/art/obliv_pc_screens_01.htm And from the FAQ:

Seeing those screenshots makes me feel so sad... Amazing graphics like that means hardware upgrades. And as every modern game runs on medium/low graphs, I'm going to need a lot ![]() ![]() |

I do have the money on my savings account, so if it really turns out to be the best gaming experience in ages (we'll have to see about that) I might really go nuts and spend a lot of cash. But I just might not either, I'm pretty cheap when it comes down to it. In the end I'm standing in the shop and think 'nah, this is really too expensive'. ![]() Erh, anyway, it's both BJ. ![]() lol@ captain picard ![]() |

We should start a Satis hate group, with his low-tax wages. ![]() Anyway, as a part of my job as game-hyper (I wish I got paid for that =( ), read this little piece on thieving in Oblivion. http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/team_ ... f_emil.htm |

ooh, that sounds pretty good. I have to say, though I typically hate sneaking games, thief was pretty damned good. I'm so looking forward to oblivion. |
