Man, lame. Men of War keeps crashing even after Crysis was ok. Sigh. I'm not letting it stop me from playing the game (I can usually play for an hour or so before it happens), but it's not good on the ole' system obviously. I need to find out what is causing all this artifacting...
Other than that, having loads of fun. The mass scale battles are just awesome. I bet Derf loved the "dig in"mission of the Soviets, where you had to hold out until the engineers put up the anti tank defenses and then retreat to them once they were ready and reduce a shitload of enemy tanks to scrap metal.
Like you guys mentioned, the later missions with smaller groups of units get annoying sometimes because the camera won't zoom out as much. But they do add a dimension to the whole looting/direct control thing. You can go one-man rambo recon on a whole lot of jerry ass if you play your cards right.
Gotta love the total destruction you can cause.

yeah , love the meat grinder missions. But there is one uber meat grinder mission as the germans i think and its just plain silly. its like, in order to complete the mission, you have to practically get your ass savaged.
A good tip is to use the numpad delete key. it zooms out.

Cool, thanks. Just played halfway the "The Penal Unit" mission of the soviets (pc crashed then). I managed to get the two light tanks I got for reinforcements damaged before actually taking out the German gunning nests I had to storm with the prisoners, so I was freaking out...until I flanked a German building with a small unit and found a German heavy tank with a damaged turret in the courtyard. I repaired it with one guy while the other guys covered his ass, then hopped in and shot the shit out of the German defensive line, coming in their flank. Total carnage.
It's too bad I can't play without crashing. I'm beginning to think I'll have to return my card while still under warranty. Meh.

sucks balls that your puter is not liking mow.
anyway, ive been dabbling with this dynamic campaign generator mod (feels as if im repeating myself here, but im too tired to check ... ive had 3 days of partying).
anyway... DCG... not really that good on its own. You cant control many units. typically its only like 14 men or something. but... im gonna try and play some user-created (not by me) operations using that tool. there are only 3 as far as i can tell from he mow forums, but they souund promising. the normandy one has something like 20 maps and you get to control like 40 men or some shit.
ill let ya know how it turns out and if its worth downloading... probably aimed more at peltz than anyone.

Played some Men of War today, no crashes (after I tuned down a lot of detail) but then i only played for an hour or so...could have crashed 5 seconds later.
Finished the hill capture/defense with the soviets, but only by a hair. A pic of the hill attached. I think I had only 3 men alive (surviving tank crew and riflemen) in the end - epic. What glorious destruction this game can create.
Currently at the 'Last Stand' mission of the Soviets with the huge coastal gun. Man, I got my ass raped the first time I tried it. I think only 4 out of 12 ships had left the harbour before Jerry got to the coast. Must rethink strategies next time. The AI is pretty insidious tho, attacking full strength on the far left of your line, then retreating and going full blast on the right flank..making you move troops through the mortar and tank fire to the other side of the line. Tricky stuff.

Haha, I love sending a sole soldier over the edge of the trench or past the cover and have him perform a suicide AT grenade bombing on a nearby tank. I'm pretty proficient at picking the right moment to jump out by now. And sometimes, one of them even makes it out alive again.
But hey, if they don't take out the tank it'll likely blow the shit out of the trenches/cover in a few minutes anyway. Bitches need to take one for the team!

yeah, it hurts, but its gotta be done. I hate getting men killed. Sometimes i'd attempt one of those suicide AT nade assaults, only to get gunned to pieces.
I've had alot of crazy SPR type moments too. Just beautiful chaotic action...

Sure thing, this weekend perhaps? I might make it during the week but I can't promise anything.

I didn't have the "certain time" (ie time I'm reasonably sure I won't be disturbed or don't need to go out for an extended period of time in order to play MP games ) yesterday to play with you guys, but i tried the Last Stand mission again...this time I got to 7 out of 12 ships leaving the bay, but the jerries got to the coast again.
It's a pretty hard mission, or is it just me? There's this moment they bring in heavy artillery and you're given the 3 last tanks in orde to make a sally through the lines of the Germans to destroy it (which is absolutely necessary cause it hits like a mack truck)...but at that point there are SO MANY GERMAN TANKS on my screen already that they're usually reduced to scrap metal long before they even get into firing range.
Any tips Derferoni? Do I need to use the AP miner reinforcements, cause I never call them in? I usually just go for light artillery and small tanks, and infantry squads if I need to plug a few holes in the lones.

i cant remember a great deal of that mission to be honest. ive done it once or twice with Peltz i think, but i dont think we had a huge problem.
I used up to three captured 105mm's to take out the ships crewed by 3-6 men. Everyone else was doing ok.
I never bother with mines generally. theyre effective but take too long to lay.
