You should have seen my bro (a n00b) when he was dropped with the gun with 15 (?) bullets, and that monkey running towards him. He was like "what...so...is there any other ammo?!"-"No"-"Jesus fucking christ!! *panicking*"

at which he obviously sprayed his 15 bullets everywhere except in the monkey. Pretty funny. In the end, I played the part of the game for him, cos he'd pretty much freeze up when he realized he was unarmed and surrounded by trigens. Good thing I don't have to put up with the damn dork all the time, heh.

taken out the guards and krieger, mainly due to the oicw assault weapons high explosives and the shotgun when the bitch jumped over to me. still took 4 goes though

after that... ...there must be an easier way i havent found yet, go through the doors and get those big bastards (3 of) coming at you with some amazing hardass sniper fire coming from the ones that jump about.

doyles little friends were a pain in the ass but some grenades, and hit and run rockets got the job done. kinda expected him to die a bit harder than that though. still, absolutely fantastic game, don't think i'd ever wanna go harder than normal though

might go through now on easy for a laugh, i think i've earned the right.

hehe...y'know, now that I have a new video card and processor, I'm thinking about reinstalling it and playing with the graphics jacked up a bit more. Dunno...second time I played I didn't get very far before getting bored. We'll see.

Congrats BJ..did you actually kill everyone? Cos both Satis and me had peculiar tactics in that part, iirc. Running like a bitch was mine. I shot the one big giy coming up to you, then ran straight down dodging missiles, into the garage port, activated the elevator, then ran between 5-10 guys that had followed me to the garage, to the elevator. Fired some shots here and there as I went up, then saved with 5 HP left. lol.

Oh yeah, and then there was that elite guards squad. Freaking bastards with full body armor aye.

Far Cry was, and is, better than Doom III. Let's see if HL2 can take it on.

basically, i opened the door, and dropped flat before i was seen, then as quick as i could i took out the 2 snipers to the left. straight after that one of the big bitches would lumber up and receive a face full of shotgun. then quickly swap back to snper rifle and take out the 2 snipers to the right of that structure bridging the lava.

by that time 2-3 of the big bitches would again lumber up , and this is were i usually hit trouble, fill 1 with the shotgun then quickly swap to crowes gun to take the others out. the trick was to hug the wall on the right hand side so that the one at the front blocked the others up a bit.

to be honest i didn't try running at all cos of all the sniper fire and rockets that you get coming at you. be interesting to hear what tactics satis used.

for the elite guards i lobbed a few grenades over the cover, then just waited by the steps for anyone stupid enough to come after me, then if any were left behind cover i'd go with thhigh explosives from the oicw again. i loved the ragdoll action when you blew people up. hehe:D

interesting you said that about doom3, i've read reviews that say that the game is repetitive and without the graphics being so good that it would be terrible.
not sure it's that bad but i'm not bothered about buying it just yet. i'll probably wait for HL2 myself. or stalker..

Doom 3 certainly isn't a bad game, and it has a good atmoshere apart from its graphical prowess...it's just not a full-on classic speaking overall. (but graphically speaking it's a milestone obviously)

I'm expecting HL2 to own very much too, and stalker has been postponed again.

hehe. I won't consider HL2 to rock until I play it. But anyway...yea, Doom3 is kinda repetitive, but not too bad. Not like the first doom, where you run around fetching keys 90% of the time. It has good flow, good atmosphere, and really good graphics, obviously. It's a tad dark, but that's by design. (btw, I hate it when it's pitch dark and a creature's trying to kill you).

But anyway...er...my tactic was to open the door, go prone, and hide in the right-hand corner. If I squeezed myself back far enough, the huge goon couldn't see me to hit me, and I just put alot of bullets into his arm. So, basically, I killed him without him realizing I was there. After that I sniped the snipers, then used standard tactics to eliminate the rest of the huge rocket guys. Once they were cleared, the rest was fairly easy.

As far as the hallway with all the guys, I think I used some sort of explosive on them. They were quite a pain in the ass, of course.

your tactics actually sound pretty much what i used, apart from taking out the other big goons.

well, not overly convinced that doom 3 is worth buying yet, think i'll wait.

With the Hl2-madness raging and Doom 3 still fresg we might forget about Far Cry which, to me, onwed Doom3 and came close to HL2. (overall, I mean...not in a specific field this or that)

Anyway, reason why I bump this is because Crytek released the 1.3 patch that next to fixing bugs (duh) also enables you to make use of the capibilities of newer graphics cards; of which High Dynamic Range lighting is the most noteworthy. But I'm talking really high-end cards here. Still,take a look at some screenshots without/with HDR enabled...you'll be amazed.
