Tnx for the bird, I guess Either I've been very blind or there's some option I didn't check for the birds/fish. I'll let ya know which one it is, if i remember.
The cold engine looked best in that one screenshot yeah, and that cartoon one looks like some kinda trip. I'm gonna use a word that's bigger than me or what i know about it, but anyhoo: is that cell-shaded you think? Cos it reminds me a lot of games like XIII.
I tried fiddling around with render modes myself for a bit, but for some reason the game crashed, had to reboot even. Hope it's just a glitch. Methinks there's a lot of ppl who come and ogle screenies in this thread but don't say anything hehe. All wishing their pc evolved to the next stage. Wait, that's Pokémon.

heh....I wish my PC would evolve. I'm drooling of a xp3200+ chip...only $250. Damnit. Anyway...
I think the birds show up with a detail setting. I didn't get them with everything set to medium... maybe having environment on high or something did it. BTW, I'm playing through teh game again (sorta) and exploring more... I already found a bunch of crap I didn't know existed, like a beached boat in the training level.
As far as cel-shading, no, I don't think it is. It seems to approximate it, but my understanding is cel-shading is a whole different type of rendering engine.
here, though about a lame game it explains cel-shading a bit:

The graphics in the Highest mode are wicked I'd have said that the second of the three "comparing" screenies has the most realistic water, the first one looks a bit "over detailed" or something, but still very nice. I noticed that there's plenty of flying leaves on the smaller plants. They were the big let down in some of Ox's pictures, because the shrubs looked out of place against some of the nicer scenery.
And cool that you can shoot through wood. I Spent much of my time shooting through tents in Delta Force games, those Damn Bala Bala's (don't ask) daint know what hit 'em!

Heh, I played Delta Force: Land Warrior for awhile. That was a cool game for a little bit. I loved sniping mofos. But anyway....
Yea, at the highest detail settings it does look very good. The ground clutter RoXoRs.

Been playing for a while with all registers open, except for FSAA of course, and jesus fucking christ, i'm still impressed with this game. I found what caused the lack of birds and fishes btw, apparently they do not appear in an already created profile if your first profile did not have them enabled (as I didn't, with everything on medium back then), so I had to create a new profile. No problem tho, now i can start in a new render mode too, heh.
And I thought i'd have to wait for HL2 for this big a kickass-ness. I'm gonna be custumizing my pc with FC wallpapers, screensavers and whatnot, like any true psycho would do. And there's absolutely no doubt that there'll be some majorly kickass mods made with the great tools that come with it. Gonna look into MP options too...heck, i might even buy this game, for the second time.
Some screens for you Mole, with vergetation

Some general shots, put water quality on ultra high now btw Had something wicked happen again: again two cars close to eachother, i frag one of them, the explosion killing all the guys in them, w00t. But as i'm standing there reloading and looking ath the mayhem i caused, i suddenly get ripped to pieces by an explosion behind me. Turns out that one of the jeeps was actually hurled over my head and behind my back, still burning, and exploded a short while later taking me with it. lol. Next time something explodes with lots of debris flying around i'll look around before thinking how kick-ass i am.

lol, indeed they are. But I'm more interested in Halo 2 right now, Whilst the graphic's prolly arent as realistic as FC, they are damned nice. I want the new E3 video, but you gotta pay for the sucka. Damn them. Anyway, erh, thanks for the Vegitation Ox
Yeah, I bought land warrior fairly recently (well, no i didn't it was ages ago), a nice game but not as fun as the first Delta Force, Which is where "Bala Bala" came from. The memories of sneaking up over the crest of a hill, seing one little bala bala walking through a small vilage, and you snipe the bastard, only to here the incessant chanting of many "bala bala's" going "Bala Balaaaaa" because they know they are under fire.
At which point me and a mate (who looks suprisingly like J does in his avatar) came up with replacing the words "sugar sugar" with "bala bala" so "Hey Bala Bala, (do do do do do doooo) Ey, Bala Bala, (Do Do DO DO Do DOoooo) You are my bala girl, and I like you bala." So we'd be holding in the jump bar, bouncing accross the desert, shooting balas. What fun.
Anyway, I'm going back to drool over Halo 2

Hehe...that story was just plain insane, great fun. And damn right we're rubbing it in your faces BJ lol For the one time i can actually work them advanced games i'm gonna flaunt them too.
I didn't know about the shooting holes in the wall, nope, this game has so much to offer, damn. And like you said, i'm finding new ways of dealing with things and new acces roads all the time in my new game. Like when you gotta steal a vehicle in the first merc camp you come across...you can just swim overn walk around the camp and attempt just as well to frag two guys standing near a jeep, on the beach. I love chases over the coast btw, i always ram a tree or a rock in the jungle. Anyway, more screenshots for you lot
Before, during and after

Notice the radar installation way on top of the mountain on the previous screens...it's not some lame background pasted on, it's actually there, you can see miles in FC.
This one's gonna be about water reflections..and yes, I'm obsessed with the water
