Well the demo is quite short. You do get an idea how the combat system works though.

Hand-to-hand combat is fast-paced brutal combo building mayhem. Fun, but it could get repetitive i fear. (a bit god-of-war-like action if you want something to compare)

Then there is the sneaky part, where you use your grapple hook to get behind enemies unseen. It's pretty cool that you can hang upside down while your enemy is walking below, unaware of your presence.

When bats starts sneaking, i was happy to see he didn't crawl forward unable to catch up with a walking target (like in hitman).

Demo was way too easy to complete though. I think you can have it finished under 5 minutes if you skip dialogue. Easily.

One (other) major annoyance: opening a grate for instance is done with spacebar. BUT when you grab it the game asks you to start mashing (okay i'm exaggerating) your spacebar. Ox will probably love this console way of doing things. :P

Let's hope my first impression of 'walk-in-the-park-kiddy-console-game' is wrong though. Don't get me wrong: it was fun to play though.

Might add some more comments later, or if you have questions: shoot.

Oh yeah: you can find objects in the game (like behind a grate etc.). Dunno why they needed to add that, collecting stuff doesn't really go with the game imho. I mean, you're Batman, you're surrounded by lunatics and psychos. Why would you want to search for 'Riddlers secrets' or something. Meh.

Thanks J :) And yeah, that mashing spacebar does look like something I'd get annoyed with...but it's still a whole lot better than quick time events, so whatever right? ;)

It all sounds very console-y with how easy it is and the secrets and whatnot, but the good kind (ie the kind with fun action and polished stuff, like Prototype). We'll see what the reviews say about the full game.

Oh and I watched a friend play the beginning of Call of Juarez yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Looked extremely atmospheric, very cool. I might just end up buying it. :o

I fired up my game again recently... got annoyed with it again. I don't know if it's the control scheme or what, I just can't get into it. Maybe it's the linearity. I dunno.

I'm the juggernaut bitch!

Superb launch trailer for Arkham Asylum

Also, pretty much universal acclaim for the console versions so far.

Very interesting all. :) Now I'm just torn if I'll get it for the PC or split it with my bro for the Xbox, what with the latter solution being cheaper and probably on the native platform anyway.

It'd be cheaper cause I'd mindcontrol my brother into coughing up half the cash for the game. ;)

Hehehe. It doesn't work as well when he's not getting anything out of it. :P In this occassion he'd stand to win shared ownership of what should be an awesome game, so that's kinda cool for him.

Also, my little brother works shifts as a (skilled) laborer in a plant of a chemistry multinational. He makes shitbuckets of money, almost double what I make as a college grad. So yeah, I don't really feel sorry swindling him out of cash. :P
