Unfortunately, I have no desire to talk to my computer. I feel like enough of a dork just playing RTS games. Does it allow gameplay without 'red team attack Eiffel tower, blue team eat crepes' kinda crap?

No voice commanding for me either...I even shun TS in online games (as most people who ever played online with me will testify here  ), so you won't see me talking to my pc just yet. 
It's probably going the way of all new features: good intentions with some cool aspects, but utterly flawed and in grave need of perfecting. You know what would be cool tho? If the game automatically dispensed punishment to people with really high voices. That'll teach those ADD 12-yr old boys with shrill voices to play games!

Yeah, it should work well with the gaming vest we talked about a few months ago, the one that could generate pressure hits. In this case however, the vest should be set up to deliver maximum punch on all sensors at once.

why stop at a vest? Make something like an athletic cup, though with the opposite intention.

I wonder if empire has some stupid protection systems. Im planning to buy it through steam, that way i get Rome Total War with it.

Not sure. I did some googlage and the only thing I found is that it'll require Steam. Steam imo is bad because of the DRM... I mean, what happens to all my games if Valve goes out of business? On the other hand, at least it's not a huge intrusive pain in the ass like securom, though it's possible to have both.
I hope people get fired because of securom. I wonder if there's going to be a class action lawsuit over GTA IV.
