I actually haven't had a chance to pilot a mech yet. :( I have played tanks on both sides (hover tanks are wierd to play), the APCs, and the jeeps. Running people over with a jeep is totally in style, btw. And I've blown up a couple mechs...takes about 4 shots from a rocket launcher. Oh, and I flew the aircraft thing....that'll take some getting used to. Gunning with it is fun.

The titans are cool, too...kinda like aircraft carriers...sorta. You can man different hard points on it too. And if they manage to drop your titan's shield and get onboard, the fighting can be pretty hectic.

I've already seen some pretty crappy lag. I hope that isn't a major issue when this comes out.

Yeh some problems with connection and latency. I piloted a mech, it what you expect, bouncing up and down. The mechs in demo are kinda shity, they only pack a fast fireing cannons, doesnt do much against tanks. Can wipe loads of infantry though.

The sniper is cool, assault rifles and machineguns are bit sucky but i bet the unlockables will rock. I have yet to figure out whats with the AT launcher, it kinda fires pretty much where it wants.

When you fire the AT stuff, be sure to alt-click to get your "zoom" view. They appear to fire significantly straighter then. I agree, sniper rocks, assault class is pretty lame... support class also. But unlockables look like they'll make those classes pwn. Overall, looks very promising.

Hey satis you still play the BF demo? i had a funny thing yesterday, an enemy was standing about two tank-lengths from me and i snipershot him 4 times in the head, and all shots went right through, i could see the bullet hit the metal container behind him, you know the animation when bullet hits something solid then some small sparks fly out. Basically its back to same old BF2 problems all over again and once titan shields go down, fighting in the corridor is impossible ive shot about 50 bullets (one full burst from machinegun) at a standing soldier and nothing happens. Even funnier is that prone stance is so crap, it doesnt do any good for accuracy coz i constantly get shot by people running and even sprinting.

hmmmm...I played a titan battle where it seemed impossible to blow the titan core. I was defending, and the enemy were just bashing their way through our titan...got to the core and that was it. They shot it for awhile, nothing happened, then they just defended our core against us.

When I was playing I had some major lag issues. Rubber banding and crap like that...firing a whole clip at someone and then they seem to kill me with their little runt SMG. Basically, some irritating crap, but I dunno. Overall it's still fun as hell. I imagine they'll be releasing a patch like they have with every other BF game.

Hehe true true, ive had every single one of those issues. Its BF2 in all its bugginess.

Anyway some tips.
1) there are escape pods on the titan you can use it to launch yourself behind the titan where enemies land with their copter. be sure to destroy it.
2) use to assault chopper to take out their landing chopper or use the terminals on titan to shoot down their incoming copters. the consoles against the back wall control aa turrets. it chews through copters like butter.
3) dont use the machinegun while defending the core, it doesnt work right or if you want to, circle around and basically melee attack range then fire off the machinegun.
4) want some easy kills. use the AT kit and groundhog, the speeder, circle around the tanks and apcs, rocket to the butt and down they go.
5) that one bastard enemy got you pinned down, sacrfice your teammates. When he shoots dead your teammates charge in, chances are he is reloading or weapon is cooling down :D BF2124 Ox style :D

Another one that sounds intriguing and recently was released. I won't bother but you guys might want to. The Ship.

Basically, its online and you all go on this ship and are given a name. That name is the person you have to kill. But no one must know you kill anyone, and of course everyone else is out to kill others as well. So you have to talk to people, find out who they are, try to stealth kill and hide to stay alive. If you manage to kill your target, you then get their name to try and kill

Wasn't that on Steam a while ago Pev?

And another small-developer game with some good gameplay: Defcon.

The game runs in four phases: Defcon 4 to 1. The theatre of action is the world map, where each player controls a continent. The idea is to set up defenses, radars and units during defcon 4, then make alliances/feel off enemy positions during defcon 3 and 2, and defcon 1 is the apocalypse: massive nuclear warfare!

Nuke, retaliate, use missile defenses, etc. Whoever makes the best alliances and anticipates his opponents' moves the best wins. Well, kinda; whoever makes the most civilian casualties wins. :) but it usually amounts to the same. ;)

http://www.everybody-dies.com/

The game isn't exactly high-tech in terms of graphics and stuff, but it's the ideal office LAN game.

hah...that looks cool. Like war games. I always wanted someone to develop a game like that...an indepth, thermonuclear war simulator. But it has to have that BOOOOMP! noise when a nuke hits its target like in War Games. A definite requirement.

Anyone played this yet? I should get the demo. :)

I've been playing the demo for a while and at a friend's on a LAN. The random online play is a bit, well, random. And one on one doesn't pack enough intrigue for me. :) But the LAN play is pretty awesome. Like playing Risk, but with nukes and massive civilian casualties.

Depending on the game speed the game plays as a TBS or a RTS, either way it's fun. Once defcon 1 hits everything goes overboard.

It's pretty 'easy' to get started with and it's cheap. I might get the full game...but it still won't be the same as playing on a LAN nuking pals. And of course, gangbanging on the best player

Anyway, I just got owned by the PC. :( I was playing Europe and was up against Asia..I wiped most of the bastard's Western front without any casualties worth mentiong so I was feeling pretty confident, until he hit me with a full-scale long range apocalypse of nukes. :/ Witness my demise in this pic (the green "bullets" are nukes pending to hit, Berlin is already taking a pounding. :P)

I just completed the tutorial. Looks pretty promising. :) Limited in scope a bit, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Or something. I really wish it had the nuking noise form War Games. Maybe there's a hack somewhere. Othen than that, I love it.... pure thermonuclear love.

Speaking of which...there's some game out there that played at this sort of thing...but included diplomacy and all sorts of stuff. Unfortuanetly, I don't recall the title. I'm curious if it was any good.

Fragile Allegiance? It was more of a complete space management game thing, but attacks on other 'planets' typically consisted of a crapload of a variety of missiles and shooting them out of the air. No matter.:)

And yeah, Defcon has been inspired by Wargames. The sound might not be there but the explosions are pretty neat...especially when it says '10.2 million dead'. Oh and the occasional sobbing in the background is pretty spooky too.

Meh, have fun...I yet have to beat the CPU in the one-on-one game. :( I suck.

Well, I finally managed to beat the AI in the demo :p After 4 tries. Though I must admit that he wasn't playing it very smart. This time, that is.

I was Russia and he was Africa, and the big Russian cities are for the most part kinda crowded, centered around Moscow. So I figured I'd station all my silos there and just sit around and wait for the Nuclear Apocalypse. Seems to have been the right idea, but I didn't quite wait for the enemy to strike...I did some pre-emptive strikes with bombers and one of my silos on Cairo which was only defended by one silo/air defense tower. Gave me a great head start so I could lay back and watch him coming, while moving my subs and ships into his rear.

Basically he took out half my structures with his main assault, but my actual cities survived pretty darn well. Only had 3 silos left after the main attack, but he didn't have anything left but subs and bombers either, which were easily disposed of. :) I nuked some smaller cities in the South with my subs to increase my score, but couldn't get to the bigger ones in Central Africa (too many defense towers). No matter. :) I positively slaughtered the bastard (finally)! 46.5m victims!

Fun game. Wish I could play it with 6 people, hehe.

Looks like I'm finally getting the hang of it...utter victory! I nuked the entire of South America back into the stone age. :) I think there wasn't any city left with more than 1 million inhabitants...no wonder, given the complete carnage of 88 million deaths!
