You can't say that without expounding at least a little bit. You can't really expect me to look at wikipedia can you.
And I agree on Steam fucking up a lot recently. They need to watch their shit. I'm currently debating whether I should buy Dragon Age via Steam or directly from a store. 3 months ago the answer would've been Steam, now I'm not so sure.

I'd suggest steam still for DA though. The Deluxe edition comes with the two paying DLC thingies (which are very much worth it) and a few other extra items, and neither me, my friend or Peltz had any problems whatsoever with it. But your call.
You don't want to look at wikipedia or don't want to know the story? Cause I'll paste it here if you don't mind huge spoilers.

meh, don't bother. If I manage to scrape up some give-a-shit, I'll look it up.
Re: DA, it'll be awhile before I buy it anyway. I'll just hang out and see how I feel in a month or two.

I gotta say, dunno how the plot summary reads but I watched Mole finish it last night and wow. Seriously wow, it's like watching a really engrossing movie. The final 5 minutes... I was on the edge of the seat more than Mole was. It was really well done and whether you appreciate the story or not, if you saw it you'd certainly have to appreciate the detail that went into the programming.

Oh I don't doubt it's an exciting ride of a game, but the whole ramming-pc gamers-in-the-butt thing still has me reeling.
EXTREME SPOILER TIME
For a summary of the story, snipped from Wikipedia:
 | | | | Quote: Shepherd sends Allen on an undercover mission in Russia in order to get close to Makarov. Allen joins Makarov in a brutal massacre of unarmed civilians waiting in a terminal at fictional Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow. Makarov, however, is apparently wise to the fact that Allen is undercover. He kills Allen, exposes his identity as an American, and turns him into a scapegoat for the brutal terrorist attack.
Angered by what they believe is an American-supported terrorist attack, Russia stages a massive surprise invasion of the United States. It turns out that the ACS module recovered earlier by Task Force 141 has already been cracked, which allows the Russian forces to advance without alerting the U.S. until they are very close. Private James Ramirez and his squad of U.S. Army Rangers, led by Sergeant Foley, are called upon to defend a Virginia suburb from the Russian attack.
Meanwhile, Task Force 141 work on tracking down Makarov. Intelligence from the airport attacks lead them to Rio de Janeiro to investigate leads on Makarov's contacts, but the only intelligence they learn from the operation is that the most hated enemy of Makarov is locked up in a Russian gulag. As a result, Soap decides to rescue the prisoner from the gulag to use him as a bait to draw Makarov out. With assistance from the Navy SEALS and U.S. Marines, Task Force 141 manages to free the prisoner, who is revealed to be Captain Price. Price agrees to help them track down Makarov, but knows they must go to extremes to end the war. He decides to go rogue, hijack a Russian nuclear submarine, and launch an ICBM towards Washington, D.C. However, he rigs the warhead to explode in the upper atmosphere, which destroys the International Space Station (viewed from an astronaut's point of view), but spares Washington. The resulting electromagnetic pulse cripples the vehicles and electronic equipment of both the U.S. and Russian forces in the city. Later, Ramirez and his squad discover that the Air Force has assumed that D.C. has been lost after the nuclear explosion and plans to carpet bomb the city. The only way to abort the operation is to set off green flares on the roof of the White House, which is under Russian control. Ramirez and his squad fight their way to the roof the building and manage to set off their flares in the nick of time, while green flares on the roofs of other D.C. landmarks signify that the city remains firmly in American hands.
Narrowing down Makarov's hiding place to two separate locations, Task Force 141 decides to split up. Price and Soap go to the aircraft boneyards in Afghanistan, while Roach and Ghost raid Makarov's safehouse in the Caucasus Mountains. The latter obtain vital intelligence that implicates Makarov in the massacre at Zakhaev International Airport. However, General Shepherd betrays them and kills both Ghost and Roach. It is revealed that Shepherd intends to take advantage of the global crisis to turn himself into a global hero. Price and Soap quickly learn of Roach and Ghost's death and manage to escape Shepherd's ambush with the help of Nikolai. After learning the location of Shepherd's secret base in Afghanistan from Makarov, they decide to take revenge on him in one final, bloody suicide mission. However, during the infiltration, Shepherd tries to escape and a long boat pursuit ensues.
Shepherd appears to escape when he drives his boat into the back of a hovering MH-53 helicopter. However, Price manages to shoot down the helicopter just before their boat tumbles over a waterfall. After recovering from the fall, an injured Soap staggers after Shepherd and attempts to kill him with his knife, but Shepard blocks the attack and stabs Soap with his own knife. As Soap lays on the ground, Shepard pulls out his pistol and prepares to execute Soap, but before he can, Price attacks him and knocks the pistol away. Price and Shepard then engage in an extended fist fight. Soap meanwhile, attempts to crawl towards Shepard's pistol, but Shepard kicks it away before he can grab it. Soap then pulls the knife out of his own chest and throws it at Shepherd, striking him in the eye and killing him. Price attends to Soap's wound before Nikolai arrives in a helicopter to extract them. Price warns Nikolai that they will be international criminals for what they've done, and they agree that they should go into hiding. | | | | |
LMFAO. The storylines of the Red Alert series are about as realistic as this load of bull, but at least they don't pretend to be anywhere near serious.

Well, the steam boycotters made a clear signal towards Activision and IW following MW2's release. But not the one I was hoping for.

I have to agree with the pc boycott attempt. It is crap the way IW have treated them considering without pc cod gamers, cod 2 would never have even existed.

yea, way to show how powerful a boycott is. Idiots. I've rarely boycotted, but when I do, it sticks. I'm still boycotting Sony and Walmart.

 Re: Modern Warfare 2
Aight, I played single player MW2. I'd heard some good things about it (like, a ton) so I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
The good... it's fun. That's always a good thing, if not the most important thing. It was indeed fun, and quite a ride.
The not so good...
the graphics suck. I mean, they're not bad, but I think they're the same as the original MW. Go consoles retarding the advancement of graphics. Yay!
The story made no sense. I mean, really. Wtf? Price is good guy, but launches a nuclear missile at DC? Soviets invade because an American was part of a terrorist attack? The soviets actually invade the US and we don't nuke the shit out of them? Made no sense at all.
A lot of the tactics and special weapons systems were utter bullshit. *shrug*
Anyway, it was a fun game, but you need a SERIOUS ability to suspend disbelief.

 Re: Modern Warfare 2
That's pretty much the world's attitude to the US these days, so I'd say it's pretty accurate. Kidding! But yeah, the entire story is fucked up. The final scene almost takes the cake. Draw knife from chest and throw it in a guy's eye, like, really?!! That's something I expect in Kill Bill, not a 'realistic' war shooter.

 Re: Modern Warfare 2
lol, yea, that was so retarded. How about the nuclear missile blowing up over DC and taking out the international space station? WTF!? And what the hell happened to the rest of the warheads? Even the loading graphic/briefing for the level showed that the ICBM had MIRVs (multiple independently targeted reentry vehicles)... ie, half a dozen or more separate warheads that should've peppered the east coast. Instead, we get one air burst over DC.... that takes out the ISS.
Anyway, the story was horrific. And I think they overplayed the whole "this character you've been playing for the last few hours, yea, we're going to kill him now" card. In the original MW I think they did it twice... once as a cut scene/execution and once again when your infantry guy dies after the nuke pops. Fine... i'm cool with that. This time it's like what, 3 times? More?
I must admit, the airport level was kinda fun though, if so, so wrong.
