 Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway
This looks hot. Screenshots show sweet graphics and some features are really cool. You can now deploy MG's and Mortars. It's set for Operation Market Garden, which means some hardcore Airborne action.
A few quotes from the BIA FAQ:

Because it's the 568787484216574898654165489 WWII shooter on the market?
Afaic the first Medal of Honor installments were good and the CoD series (so far) was great...but the other stuff, including Brothers in Arms, never did it for me.

I'm sick of WWII. I wish people would just leave that poor war alone. How about a WWI shooter?

WWI? Now what would that involve?
Mission 1:
a) You spend 1 hour sitting in a trench under machine gun and artillery fire. When some officer blows his whistle you all get up and charge. 90% of the time you will die in the first 10 metres of advance. Another 5% you will make it to the enemy trench, horribly wounded and get bayonetted by an enemy. The other 5% of the time you will get into the enemy trench.
b) Repeat "a)" for remaining x trenches.
Rest of Missions:
Repeat mission 1, x times.
....................
Thats a pretty cynical view, but i do think that if they gave you a broad and flexible role in WWI combat, it could be quite fun.

Yeah, i think that a good WWI game could blow the epic rushes from CoD right out of the water. Machine gun madness, flamethrowers, nerve gas, and -of course- at all time up to your knees in the mud.
You've got a point that it would be hard to make it believable given the low survival expectations of the average soldier in WWI. But then, didn't we singlehandedly slay armies of Fritzes in CoD too?

I think it would be doable. You could start off with a retarded trench charge, get recognized for gallantry somehow, then graduate to cooler, behind enemy lines stuff.
And that was just an example, you nay sayers. How about the Spanish American war? The war of 1812? The hundred years war? I think a First Person Slasher set in an historically accurate (sorta) medieval setting would be pretty damned cool, and extremely original.

Also one possibility could be the Finnish-Russian "winter war" where it is estimated that the russian suffered nearly 1million casualties. Its one of the hush hush wars of russia
