Post Command and Conquer the First decade RA2 issues
Right, Don't really know if I should put this in tech section or here.

In red alert 2, the first decade version, whenever the woman the announces shit announces some shit, the game hangs for about 0.5-2.0 seconds. Every time.

Things i've tried:

Compatibility mode for 95 AND for 98.
Turning down hardware acceleration both in sound section of CP and DXDIAG
Reinstalling the game
Removing the game from my Anti Virus's checking section.
Giving it Full Access as far as my firewall is concerened.

I'm running the latest version with my latest software. I've had the same game but NOT the first decade version running fine on this PC (Before my format)

It's really freakin' irritating!

Specs: Athlon 64 3500
Geforce 6600GT
1 Gig Ram
Trust 5.1 Sound Optical Expert

You're fucked. It's a known bug and it hasn't been fixed yet, doubt it'll ever be. I had it too except that in my case, it hangs forever.

known bug on all operating system? If it works on win98 or something, you could always install MS virtual pc and run 98 in it. :)

How smoothly does Virtual pc work on modern day systems? I know it lagged like hell on my previous pc...but that baby wasn't half as powerful as this one.

Depends on what you're running. At work I have debian (linux) running on a WinXP box with 256MB of RAM and a 533mhz processor. Runs like ASS.

But, I bet if you have 1GB of RAM and a 2ghz+ processor, it'd probabyl run fine. That fact it runs at all on that POS is amazing.

lol @ 533 mHz. I hated that when I was at the internship. My pc was a 800mhz something and I was getting all pissed off at its slowness compared to my home pc. You must suffer the same syndrom. :)

And of course it had all the shiny windows crap on when i first got there...took me 10 minutes of my life trying to tune it down to "classic windows" and best performance. It's a crime to have all that stuff running standard on such a crappy box.

agreed. I don't use that second box for much...mainly running linux at this point. And connecting to my customers' computers. It can't stand much beyond that.

Solution to problem:

Remove RA2 directory from Antivirus monitoring, or if that fails disable anti-virus.

Well, it doesn't work here. When you're doing multiplayer there won't be any videos, so you can kick Mole's butt anytime you want.
