Well, tonight I either come back a juniour instructor in wing chun kung fu or not - my grading is tonight. I'm going for level 6 which is the level before black, but we converted it to seven levels and merged together some of level 1, 2 and 3 in to just two levels.

I've gotta complete 2 forms and demonstrate excellence in bracing footwork (I.E. Becoming imovable in a fight) and then being able to delink (I.E. Become movable when it's necersary in a fight) which roughly translates to Be water my friend.

I've also got to be able to link all of the stuff from 1-5 and the 6th level stuff together, and help a couple of the lower level guys through their drills.

8 years might seem like a long time, but I was living 150 miles away for three of them - and this school is not one of those "black belt over night" schools either.

Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.

Haha, if between me and my Sifu (teacher) we can get the class to expand a lot more, there might be some online goodness - but it's really best learned by feel and touch.

I could show you bracing footwork on a video, but you can only feel if you do it right. If that makes sense?

@DerfDizzle, I really thought I was fucking things up massively. I think the fact I can do well in class played in my favour, my instructor has seen me at my best and factors that in to combat the fact he's watching me try to perform under nerves.

I should be teaching by January. My overall training is going in to overdrive - basically my instructor is starting up an Elite class which will be alot more agressive physical contact. The biggest problem with the class at the moment is you can't exactly go beating up new guys or you'll never generate business. So if we start our elite class, we will be able to go at things much more full contact.

It also means that come my black belt grading (may/june) I should be in top shape.

This means I'll be training 3-4 nights a week which will be awesome.
