My growing distrust of Google probably isn't unknown to people around here, but it just gets worse. A recent quote from the CEO

Mmm, this is a pretty chunky subject:

Apathy: Who cares if the gvt holds info on me. The likelihood is that the gvt wont suddenly turn into a house-to-house-porn-crackdown-gestapo-reich.
Pro-political: At the end of the day, the gvt uses this info with good legal intentions. Yes, we all agree with piracy law and we know its bad. We shouldn't be doing it.
Anti-political: Fuck the system. We have corrupt bastard secret police gvt's so we have to give them nothing more. The Patriot Act is BS.
Defeatist: It's the capitalist way. Nothing can stop it. Our democracy isn't a real one, so it makes no difference what I think.

I lack the info and details to take any viewpoint solidly, so at the moment I take all (or nothing).

Well it's not like they're gonna help you that much when a tactical SWAT team comes to bust down the door of that maniac who doesn't want to bend over for totalitarianism while all his sheepish neighbours just obeyed the government (because it knows best!). :P

I think the reality is that, should a totalitarian government (with the help of google ;) ) take over, 95% of all people are sheep and would just go with the flow - guns or no guns. Most regimes don't actually present themselves as a regime, and people are ready to believe a lot of things as long as it doesn't mess with their own lives. Those remaining 5% are pretty likely to get their asses kicked our hauled off to a gulag, since, y'know, that's what these regimes tend to do.

The Patriot Act is an abomination. If Obama wants to earn that Nobel, he should get started working on getting rid of that monster.

Hehe. Well, time has already told me. My old man got involved back in the 70's and he ended up having to exile. In the end they achieved nothing. It's tempting to fantasise that we have some kind of power versus the gvt, especially since that's what we're led to believe. I believe totalitarianism may already be here.

This is how I feel about this topic regarding Google and govt. The govt can easily obtain your emails and search history from ANY online source. Just recently Yahoo's Law Enforcement Guidelines where leaked Link. Law enforcement can buy you online info from Yahoo for $30 to $40. Link

Personally, I truly believe we, as in the whole world, are being slowly herded into a one world government. Part of this process is being able to access any and all information about you, ala Google Health Records. I think one of Google's top stock holders used to work in a top postion in Government. Cant find the source now.

Anyway, ultimately I think they can read through all my emails, look at my searches and where I go online but it doesnt matter because all that information says nothing about me. Sure it might show who my friends are on facebook, that I like to play games, that I read this website or that website but it doesnt reflex who I am or what I believe. I dont email personal thoughts or feelings or have conversations with people online that reveal intimate details of my life. My online profile is just a shell or crap information. The time where ours lives are private is long gone and been gone. If someone wanted to they could zoom in with satellite camera and watch me scratch my nuts in my own backyard. Im still gonna scratch mu nuts regardless if they are looking or not.

In regards to the last quote made buy the CEO. The Patriot Act could be used in a way where if I made a negative comment about the government or the President(which I do), they could flag that as terrorism. At that point we become no different than Nazi Germany.

So I guess Im in the camp that doesnt care, but i do think they would raid my house in a heart beat under a pretense of "terrorism" given the right law was passed.

I can sum up that real quick. There microsoft support webpage, google, news and pornsites, the rest is less than 0,000001%.

We are more or less invisble as long as you avoid the following: blogging, twitter, searching something on the net regarding explosives and the president and so on.
