Swedish men have proved the most successful applicants, with two-thirds (65 per cent) of those putting themselves forward being accepted.

Norwegian women are considered the most beautiful with more than three-quarters (76 per cent) making the grade.

Since the website was opened to UK members 295,000 people have applied, with only 35,000 being approved.

The website was founded in 2002 in Denmark and since then it has spread to other countries - becoming available in the UK in April 2005.

The 'elite dating site for beautiful people only', went live across the globe on 26 October this year. Over the past two weeks, the site has rejected nearly 1.8 million people from 190 countries.

From the total number of hopefuls, only 360,000 new members have been admitted - meaning five-out of-six applicants (83 per cent) have been turned away.

Sweden, Brazil and Norway are proving to be the most beautiful countries overall, with applicants from Germany and the UK among the least successful.

Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said: "Asking why British people are doing so badly is a tough question.

"It hurts me - I'm English.

"I think there is less emphasis on appearance in the UK than overseas.

"If you go to some countries they are very into how they look - very health and body conscious.

"The UK attitude is a bit more about kicking back and relaxing, and having a few drinks in the pub after work."

im pretty sure that's the source of the problem. They just care less for looking after themselves.

The catch is probably in that the website doesn't really just rate the attractiveness of the people of a certain nation as much as the attractiveness of the people of a certain nation who apply to be a member of that website.

So in fact the one thing you can say for sure about it is that the people from the UK and Germany who applied were a lot less hot than they themselves thought/hoped.

On average tho, English girls I've met tended to be pretty...grisly. Binge-drinking, sluttily dressed fatsoes etc. But not all of them obviously (Pev don't kill me).

You say that but then the US is pretty much all about extremes, from what little I've seen of it. You either have your big fat stereotypical americans or you have the image-obsessed, plastic-surgery-made super model types. Of course there are 'average' ones in there too but I think less so than most other countries. Could be talking complete bullshit though ;)

And yes Ox, I won't kill you lol, it's true. Most English girls are either fat people with mini skirts or orange people with brown hair and blonde highlights (that seems to be the 'hot' thing at the moment). All the good looking English people are actually polish immigrants! hehe.

Anyway I agree with the 'uk being less image-based' bit to an extent, though that's certainly changing with us trying to be like a mini america all the time, but I also agree with Ox, all it means is that when English/German people get up their own arses enough to think they're hot, they're even more up there than other countries. Clearly Swedish men and Norwegian women make damn sure they're hot before they apply!

Actually now I say it most of the english women that apply are probably the fake tan types I mentioned above, which really isn't beautiful, it just says "I'm easy" which works well in an every day pulling situation but not on a beautiful dating site.

Wouldn't there a be a bit of both in the US? I mean, places like Utah and Wyoming probably have their fair share of troglodytes, but wouldn't Florida and California be poon central?

there are hot and ugly people everywhere. Just more fat people in the US is all. :roll: I will say that most swedish chicks I've met are hot. Northern europe in general has a lot of hotties. I'm not so hot on Korean chicks... most are fuglies.

Silly man! Poon Central = Ox' bedroom. Everybody knows that. :P

And yeah, Northern Europe...same with Eastern Europe (only they tend to go downhill FAST past 30).

heh... the same 30-year-old thing holds true for Korea... if they're not (and that's not a given), they look young and hot until they hit about 30... then they go from looking 18 to looking like they're 50 in the space of a few months. *shiver*

I totally need to visit Australia. Something tells me there's lots of hotties there. :roll:

Canada has hotties, to my surprise. When I was in Singapore, I did not see 1 overweight person and 98% of the women(mostly asian) where hotness.

Alaska on the other hand has been hit with the cold ugly stick.
