Post Which type of gamer are you?
http://survey.ihobo.com/BrainHex/

Take the test :)

I'm a Survivor-Seeker subtype.

Your BrainHex Sub-Class is Survivor-Seeker.

You like pulse-pounding risks and escaping from hideous and scary threats as well as finding strange and wonderful things or finding familiar things.

Each BrainHex Class also has an Exception, which describes what you dislike about playing games. Your Exceptions are:

» No Mercy: You rarely if ever care about hurting other players' feelings - mercy is for the weak!

» No Commitment: You dislike being asked to complete everything, preferring to pick and choose which tasks you will attempt, or simply messing around with a game.

Your scores for each of the classes in this test were as follows:

Survivor: 20
Seeker: 16
Mastermind: 13
Conqueror: 6
Daredevil: 4
Socialiser: 0
Achiever: -10

lol @ 0 socialiser and -10 (!) achiever.

It's fairly accurate - I love horror games, hate cooperating with strangers and ain't much of an achievement or grind whore, but I DO love cooperating with people I know and like. That's missing a bit from the analysis. Other than that...

survival games, check
exploring, check
strategy (mastermind), check

Yeah, that's pretty much me allright. Kinda similar to Ox. I definitely dont like to touch main quests usually. I like to explore and wander usually, trying to find my own way. Also, yeah the thing about not wanting to solve problems then-and-there is visible in L4D. I never really care much for how we defend vs hordes or where the best places are. I just kinda go by the moment.

Well, when it comes to games i usually consider myself all arounder, I tend to pick class types that can do lots of stuff but do not master anything. When playing in group i can be anything from leader to the axe in the face type. I guess the scores are fairly accurate, i like good combat but not for the sake of fighting but rather for the sake of perfection, like monks :D.

Sounds about right. I love to explore, love to socialise as long as the other people aren't total retards (so not WoW players ;)), I do love to achieve stuff and run the hell away when something is after me, but my least favourite type of gaming is definately puzzle.

Duh, OCD ftw (in mild, not-really-ocd-cases of course) hehe. I want all the achievements I can get on WoW! Must have! Seems only me and Peltz have this trait though... oh well :P

Mine manifests in a slightly different way. I dont have to get all the achievements but i like to be thorough. Like in DDO at that caravan with the damn dogs. I just had to deliver them even when the xp is just not worth it. Im not very efficient one could say.

It's funny to see how people's style of playing games tells a lot about them.

I have a lot of gamer friends and even though most are equally into games, they have very different approaches. Some

-barely ever finish a game even though they like it
-others think 99% is shit and love the few games they don't hate to pieces (Derf)
-others have a semi-compulsive need for completeness (Peltz)
-others just need to collect everything in a game and all achievements (the OCD peeps and our dearest Pev)
-others finish games in intense bursts of a few days (me)

etc.

Well now you see that's the funny thing about my high achiever mark, because actually I WANT to collect everything and do all the quests and see every area, but in reality I belong in your first group where I rarely finish any games. If I have finished 5% of games I've ever played I'll be surprised.

That is a little weird. I feel incomplete if I don't finish a game... not that it hasn't happened, but it's rare and usually a result of game-killing bugs (NWN2 and Stalker: Clear Sky come to mind).

Same here. Well, in games I like that is. But I tend to research my games pretty well beforehand and have a rather eclectic taste, so I rarely buy any games that I really can't stomach.

hmmm..y'know, on that note, I started and dumped Dead Space and Ghostbusters. But I was so unimpressed I didn't feel like grinding away at it for hours. Of course, Ghost Busters managed to CTD on me several times so perhaps that would fall into the "game killing bug" section. Maybe there's this magical threshold... after putting in x hours, completing becomes a compulsion.
