So, some girls got lost in a storm drain with their cell phones. Did they call the emergency number? (911 in the US, 000 in this case since it's Australia) Hell no, they called for help on Facebook. ![]() http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009 ... 678945.htm |

LOL. Man, gotta hate Facebook and its users. I fucking spit on Facebook. It actually cost me friends because they no longer really answered emails or calls anymore and used Facebook for pretty much every form of communication (as these girls do, apparently). It kind of reminds me of Perez Hilton (of internet gossip fame) twittering from his car to his fans to call the cops after getting a few slaps from a Black Eyed Peas member. Say wha?! |

Social networking sites are lame. And dangerous. I don't want my life that accessible to the general world. Even with "private" and "public" sections, all it takes is one 'oops' and my private shit is all over the internet forever. No thanks. I like my privacy. |

i agree 100%. The only thing i have displayed publicly is my email and occasionally my phone number when the job requires it (ie during the naval parade in 2006, my phone number was pretty much freely available but not advertised in newspapers or something, it was listed on the webpage) And then theres the gamespot site where i post my game reviews but those are insignificant and only represent my experience with a certain game. |

how it is your "life"? On facebook i have a list of friends and relatives. I personally dont care to use it as a diary. Sometimes I use it to send jokes to people or for some catchup. |

it's more information than I would feel comfortable putting on the internet. From clankiller, you can have a general idea of my personality, some of my interests, kinda what I do (sorta kinda but not really)... if you're knowledgeable, you may be able to get my real name and address. But that's about it. My real name is pretty much nonexistent on the interwebs, so it stops there. However... with facebook/myspace, your real name is out there. So are your friends and relatives' real names. If you're on linkedin, so's your company and your coworkers. That's a ton more info that people can then use to get more information on you. Anyway, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I like my anonymity. |
