I think you'll find that Abba is a perennial favorite for just about every European, even the straight men.  I'd never go out to watch the damn musical or movie, but I don't hate the music by any means. It's good poppy nostalgia. 
Funny that an 'iceman' like Poetin would be into them though...but he IS the right age to have experienced Abba in their prime! |
