snowed so badly yesterday that i spend half the day at home from work. Today my boss just texted me saying not to bother coming in. So hence ive got some time on my hands to pollute the intraweb with my thoughts ... Was getting geared up for work this morning (waterproff stuff and boots) before getting the text message. To be honest, since i'd walked 1 hr in the snow to work yesterday, it wasnt such a big deal to me. Office people are so ... weak. To me an hour's walk in the snow (worse today) isnt a big thing but among office folk its like a massive effort. Whatever, im gonna take the day off. I have a boss at the moment that is particularly challenged in the connect-the-dots department. E.g. Yesterday he joked that i can walk into work (semi-joke) and when i did, he was shocked when he discovered it took me 1 hour and said i shouldn't have bothered. What a retard. He knows where i live yet couldnt connect the fucking dots to what he was saying. Tard. On a separate note ... i think winter is a bad period for training (gym and stuff). I'm struggling. Winter has a way of sapping energy from you and making you a little ill frequently, after work therefore you're just damn tired and can't work out. |

Heh, sucks to hear about the work complications dude. But I imagine you're not the kind of guy to get all p'od over it for the rest of the day. ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyways, yeah, winter takes away some of my willingness to do sports too. I don't work out as such but I play a lot of football and squash and I find that it gets cut to less than half the amount than usual in winter. ![]() ![]() What kind of job are you doing now anyway Derfmeist0r? I hate it that my boss is retarded too. He just gave me an assignment which basically consists of opening a map, and noting down name/date/kind of file for a lot of files up to 2004. I told him to give it to someone below me - I didn't go to fucking uni for 6 years to be classifying fucking documents. Seriously. Problem is that ALL my co-workers are morons and my boss is psycho. So the co-workers see me as an arrogant jerk (which I may very well be) and my boss sees every one of my problems as proof of how I'm disloyal and am going to stab him in the back. ![]() ![]() |

Bleh pisses me off how we all just give up coz of a few inches of snow. We had about two inches the other day (come on, that's nothing, it's like... 5cm. Nothing) and the number of schools closed was ridiculous. Ok, we get less snow than we used to but hell, what is two inches gonna do to anyone?! Are we really so unprepared? Now half a foot I could sort of forgive it for, but seriously... *sigh* We never used to get snow days when I was a kid, and that was up in Yorkshire near the Dales, so we'd get far more snow when it did snow than the south! It does tend to sap your strength a bit though... but it is so nice to look outside and see that it's cold out, and just appreciate sitting inside in the warm ![]() Oh and mixing the two subjects, on Monday when we had the two inches, our head office got to go home at 2pm, but the shops had to stay open until normal time! (Well until our regional manager sent an email through saying if transport was dodgy we could go early... which him being him meant don't you dare leave early). Ox, can you like... post a webcam of this guy self destructing or something? Sounds fun to watch! ![]() |

you're right ox, im not po'd about it, but my cumulative opinion of people is not very volatile. in other words, im very conscious of the fact that some people are just dicks. sunlight is a good point actually. a day of sunshine makes a fair bit of difference, especially here in the damn uk. the job im in at the moment is IT project based. half administration, half business analysis. The BA side is a shambles. Total lack of direction. The job is very very cushy though. For example, one inetersting task i have at the moment is to figure out how we can summarise worldwide sales for a particular kind of customers. I know how it can be achieved, but im getting push-back from senior staff that's stopping me from working out the details and implications. Its was a 1 year job ending March, so not long left. Hehe, i like your style. It seems youre pretty in-tune and capable but if the conditions aren't right, you wont bend over backwards. Like me. If im satisfied, i'll offer more effort, if im unsatisfied, it means i dont like where i am. |

Any chance of your contract getting prolongued? If that's what you would want, anyway. ![]() And me being in-tune and capable...I dunno. I think I have a problem with pride and authority more than anything else. ![]() Pev, I'd love to get that webcam up but he moves around a lot ![]() Another colleague is on a widower's pension - his wife died 10 years ago- and in order to get the full amount he can't work more than 2 months a year. So...every year, he works HALF-TIME for two times two months, with a 6-month period between them or so. He even succeeded in being away on sick leave for two weeks during this period. ![]() My work is a mess. ![]() |
