EU second biggest market after Asia
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6191774.ht ... op;title;5
To me it seems that EU citizens just pay more for the same product. Ive seen a fair share of products that are priced 44$ and for EU 44€.

pure numbers aren't really a good indicator, though. There are what, 200 million people in the US? Maybe 400million in North America? There are like 2 billion+ in Asia. I'm not sure what the EU's population figures are, but I'm sure it's a lot higher than NA.

Im telling you, the europeans just pay more, it has little to do with the population. Even in the supercomputer article, the writer said you can compile such a rig with 3900$ from Newegg. But in Europe it costs around 4000€ which is more if you convert it to $$. If you want to check this, go to US alienware site, compile a rig and then go to a UK site, and compile the same thing there. You should get about the same amount with the different sign at the end. ($ and €)
Damn them for making us pay more.

oh yea, good point. How much of that is due to the electronics import tariffs? I forget what it's called. Whatever happened to free trade?

We do pay more, in the UK I guess that's the price to pay for having such a strong currency. Take Rock Band, costs £180 for the instruments + game over here; imported from america it costs £150.

And it's $170 (£86) at Gamestop.

I didn't realize how weak the dollar was compared to the pound until now.

Tell me about it.
Seriously, I'm gonna save up enough to buy two small jets.
Only buy one jet.
Fly to USA.
Buy a shit load of crap with the money for the second jet.
Illegally fly it back to uk.
Sell it.

If I had money, I'd be making a trip to the States right now. Alas.

haha...well, you'd have somewhere to stay. We'd provide food and alcohol too...at lest within reason.

Looking forward to all of those. I'd bring a selection of Belgian beers and chocolates and whatever, of course.
In return, I expect to see the most decadent fast food and all-you-can-eat restaurants in Texas. I'm letting loose my future strong euros on your (already) cheap bulk fast food America!!
Just found out a friend of mine (well, we don't speak regularly, as he's living in Barcelona atm) is in NY...somewhat funny coincidence.

Well..... Ox, if you want to come to TX, I'd be willing to at least help pay for your plane ticket and you'd be welcome to stay with us. It might make Satis a little less frustrated with my issues with flying personally. (I'm a huge control freak - I don't even like riding in cars with others when I am not driving it - plus clausterphobic) So, if you are interested, let us know what the fares are like for the round trip and we'll talk.
Just be warned we have lots of animals (2 dogs, cat, 2 tortoises, 2 turtles (although one has not been seen recently)).
But honestly, we'd welcome you all pretty much into our home if you come by. So, you ever need a place to stay in TX, let us know.

I love animals of almost any kind, so that's not gonna stop me...also, having no driver's license, I am completely adapted to having other people drive and fly me everywhere.
No but seriously, thanks for the offer and the hospitality! Like I've said before though, I can't let you guys pay part of the trip if I'm going to stay at your place and drink your beer and shit...would be too much. If I come over, it'll be on my own cash. But thanks!!
I'm sure I'll end up in Texas somewhere down the road. Now that's a weird sentence.

Get your drivers license man. I had been postphoning that for a couple of years myself and i can't imagine missing it now. You never know where you'll end up living. Might be a plus when you're looking for a job.
I know it would be impossible to rely on public transportation for me.
On the no money subject: we started building our house, so that's where all my money is going now. I'll add some pics later.
