 Iphone touch
OK so, I kinda bought an I phone touch yesterday. It is a neat toy but Satis now disowns me for it. I am not an Apple fan by any means but I think it was by far the best phone available to me at the moment. I don't switch phones often, like every 3 years so I wanted something that was likely to stay kinda neat and functional for a while. My second choice for a phone was not as cool, and only like $50 less than the phone I bought and the Iphone had a lot more storage. So.... I'll let you all know how it goes. The main thing I don't like is that for the better phones they don't seem to offer insurance. And I am a bit rough on phones. Actually, I have already dropped the new phone once already within the first couple of hours of having it.

I've heard mostly sceptical things about the iphone. Like an annoying interface. Let me know what you like about it.

I heard the same 'bad' things. That the phone is cool and hawt and all, but that it has so many options that they kinda eclipse the basic use of a phone. Ie to call people.
*pets stone age Nokia*

I dunno I really like it so far because it makes it so I have many of my toys available like my nav system, mp3 player, phone etc bu all in one. So it is going to reduce the weight in my purse a lot. Which ask any gal that actually carries a purse, that is a good thing. Plus I can see waiting for appointments and such and having entertainment without having to bring my book along.

I've got me a Nokia E65, which has been pretty awesome to me so far
I never go for the flashier phones, even though their pretty features call to me, I know I'll never use them
the iPhone hasn't made it's way out here yet, there are lots of rumours as to what carriers it is going to be on. If my carrier ends up with them... I probably will too. I can never resist pretty pretty apple products. *pets lovely iMac*

I've heard only good things about the Iphone. That's because 1. you can only get it on O2 network here, and we have an O2 shop near us at work that comes in and tries to make us buy it when we're bored and 2. the only person I know with one is an Apple fanboi.
Bring on the old phones that you can call and text on (though mine does have an old camera and internet as well... Nokias all the way

A friend of mine wanted to buy an iPhone, so I asked him: "What can it do?". Turned out he hadn't looked into that yet. When he did, he ended up buying a HTC. The problem of the iPhone isn't that it has too many functions, it misses things you'd expect from a phone that expensive, like fast internet. Not too much of a problem in the States, where phone tech is a bit behind the rest of the world, but this internet thing is one of the reasons the iPhone isn't doing very well in Europe. And I guess that in Japan they'll just laugh at the iPhone.
I need a new phone too by the way. Nothing too fancy: calling, messaging, a decent camera and an mp3 player (plus the ability to jack in normal headphones, my current Nokia only has some weird connector that only works with Nokia headphones). Any suggestions?

hah.... evil Apple freaks.
I just bought an mp3 player not too long ago... I don't see the point of going for a phone that also has one in it. Besides, 16GB is expensive on a phone mp3 player. I can't help you out on that, Arathorn... though for reason you mentioned you probably don't want an American's opinion anyway. Our cell phones are always years behind everyone else's. Bastard phone companies.

I don't have an mp3 player, so for me it's a good idea combining them. As it's only for short trips anyway, large storage isn't my biggest problem (and whatever I buy, I can't carry around my entire collection anyway).

Well...ok...as long as it's pink and has other girly frills. And never enters my peripheral vision.
Talking about girls/women and Apple...I was in an Apple store recently, and of the 10 customers browsing, 4 of them were young women. Not very interesting, I know, but rather strange in a pc store. Seems like Apple is hitting a nichemine there.

Apple's always been a niche product. But so's alienware and such. You'd be surprised how many Alienware and XPS systems I run into in the corporate world. Not a huge number, of course, but still a few here and there.
If Microsoft keeps screwing the pooch on operating systems I could see Mac becoming more popular. Or maybe Linux will get its head out of its ass and make an O/S that average people can use.
