 bots suck my nuts so...I was perusing my server reporting and ran into this gem (attached). Seems that someone in France hit my website for 43,000 page views and 2.5 GB of bandwidth. For comparison, this one person in one day pulled more bandwidth than my site used up in the month of January. Bastards. It had to be a bot. It looks like the hits were all on posting.php and viewtopic.php so I guess it just trolled through my website either trying to spam or just harvesting info. Or something.
Whoever it is is a customer of Proxad in France.

Have you tried contacting the ISP with that info? Most ISP's have an abuse address.

I did that once upon a time. It was greeted with a whole lot of silence. They could care less unless you come knocking with a lawyer.
Anyway, it's not a big deal. I have 8TB of transfer per month, I believe. This barely even registered toward my meter. I just found it annoying is all.

yea, it's not much use. I plan on rebuilding the site again at some point... perhaps building in some mechanism to recognize and minimize the impact of stuff like that is a good idea. IE, run a select count(*) within the last hours and if the hits are >1000 just return an empty page. Can't stop em from hitting it but I can stop them from getting much bandwidth out of it... just the packet header and a 0 byte payoad.
