It has been well known for a long time that drinking one or two glasses of alcoholic beverage (doesn't matter what exactly) a day is beneficial for your heart and veins. My problem is that I either don't drink at all or a lot.

I think i've drunk enough alcohol to get me an average of 2 or 3 glasses a day untill i'm very very old. :P

And yeah, no big news, they're studying these things all the time, red wine should be beneficial for x, white wine is good for that. Just always in limited amounts. Pff.

Yea, ok, fine. I've never seen it associated with memory. I certainly have a horrible memory. Like, really bad. I have seen the red wine being good for whatever studies. Mainly using the French as subjects.

Bah, it's not hard to improve French people, they can hardly get any worse then they already are.

yea, seems like the studies are a bit biased. But then again most everything is nowadays. I don't trust anything I hear unless it's pure science with no $$$ benefits for anyone. Stupid greed.

Beer promotes memory... ? Hm... I'd second Sat, with an addition. There's always way to achieve benefit from some scientific achievement / discovery, be it faked or not. It is just the question of how much money you are going to invest in order to double, triple or whatever-positive-and-greater-1-multiply it.

You know something... I'd actually give this a small ounce of credability.

I'm the same as you Satis, My memory is pathetic (At least short term wise). I can't remember shit the next day, no matter how hard I try.

However, whenever I get drunk - I can remember pretty much everything I do, when I did it, who I was with, where I was, what I said, what was said to me...

Odd.

hmm, that is quite odd. I don't remember anything, ever. heh...ah well. I'll just blame the heavy usage of mind-altering chemicals in my youth.

Hm.... hm...

Have you tried that hard to memorize the things in the moment they're happening instead of trying to recall them later?

And, btw, that about the alcohol may be explained otherwise. If you really enjoy drinking, maybe your memory becomes unconsciously sharper because your unconscious "yourself" want to be capable of recalling that pleasant moments later. Just a possibility.

Meh... I can't get you guys. I really remember all I did yesterday, where I was walking, whom I saw, with whom I talked, about what, which words were used etc. It's kinda weird to me that someone can't remember at least two of these categories within last 24h. It sounds to me like kind of ... selfbrainwash.

it's boredom. I do the same thing every day and it's mainly not mentally stimulating.

If I did something interesting, like discovering a new way to code something (that's something that happens fairly regularly) it'll probably stick in my head. I think it's a lack of giving a damn that's the root cause of my lack of memory.

Or maybe it's the alcohol.

I agree to that boredom thing, but then again I 'noticed' my change as I got progressively worse. Maybe that's why I hate my job so much now? It's mind numbing.
