Iran's President says Holocaust was a myth
http://today.reuters.com/news/newsartic ... xml&rpc=22
 | | | | Quote: TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the Holocaust was a myth, triggering a fresh wave of international condemnation.
Last week Ahmadinejad first aired his doubts on the veracity of the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were killed by the Nazis. His comments drew a rebuke from the U.N. Security Council.
"They have fabricated a legend under the name 'Massacre of the Jews', and they hold it higher than God himself, religion itself and the prophets themselves," he told a crowd in the southeastern city of Zahedan on Wednesday.
The speech was broadcast live on state television.
European countries called the remarks unacceptable and said they could undermine plans for talks with Tehran on its controversial nuclear program.
Israel said the comments showed Iran's "rogue regime" was acting outside acceptable international norms.
Ahmadinejad, a former Revolutionary Guardsman who was elected president in June, in October called Israel a "tumor" which must be "wiped off the map", provoking a diplomatic storm and stoking up fears about Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Washington accuses Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear program is only for generating electricity.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the Holocaust remarks could weigh on European Union efforts to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.
"The recent remarks by the Iranian president ... are certainly shocking and unacceptable," he told reporters. "I cannot deny that they may weigh on our bilateral relations and naturally also on the chances for the negotiations on (Iran's) so-called nuclear dossier."
Iran's hardline press largely rallied round the president's first Holocaust remarks but the Islamic Iran Participation Front, Iran's leading reformist party, printed a critical statement in the liberal Sharq daily on Wednesday. | | | | |

lol...what a quality leader. Let's wipe out a country we're not at war with and has nuclear weapons. Let's talk shit about their past, too. :p What a tard.
It's one thing for a leader ot have personal opinions...it's another to air things like that in public. Despite what he may think, diplomacy runs the world.

Hmm the Holocaust didn't happen. One of those people that might think that Hitler might have had it right all along, the death camps and the actual Nazi records don't exist and again its all a Zionist conspiracy. Fertile imagination.

On the other hand, Iran barely has any (real) diplomatic relations with the West anyway. For all they care they do massive sing-songs about the US being gay...they won't scare away trade, since there isn't any.
Isn't that was they do in North Korea, too?
Anyhoo, needless to say the guy needs a head-check. I love his clothing style tho...he's the president, but he's always in a leather vest and a pair of clothed trousers. Leather vests ftw!

hehe.....yea, I guess when the country doesn't really konw wtf diplomacy is, it's hard to yell at em for being dumbfucks about it. Or something.
We should get NATO together and start bashing on some countries for the hell of it. Like NK, China and Iran.

Yeah, yeah, but China's new openness means that relations aren't as strained. I doubt Bush would go to North Korea

I read somewhere that Iran's defense minster has said that Iran will respond fiercely to an Israeli attack (on their nukes factories).
Makes you wonder wether Iran actually wants a war without starting it themselves, because if that happens, the Middle East may rise to support them. But why now? They don't have nukes yet, shouldn't they wait for those before provoking a war?

Iran probably has nukes that where originaly in Iraq. Hence, the missing WMD's and why Iran is being so bold. They have a full house in their deck and everyone else thinks they have a pair of 2's.

I don't think Iraq had nukes, and I highly doubt they would give them to Iran, of all countries. They'ld rather donate them to Syria.
If or when Iran does have nukes, it poses a huge threat. They won't care about using them on Israel, but even Israel wouldn't dare to use them in return, in fear of public opinion. On of the worst things about the Iraq war might become that it leaves the US with too much trouble to thoroughly kick Iran's ass.

Seems like the whole area is a hornets nest. What was that guy that made that speech against America recently? I think he may be right

contrary to popular belief, most of the middle east likes the status quo. It's relatively calm, everyone there has their religious freedom, and they make shitloads of cash off their oil. Overall, they're very profitable and happy.
Someone like Iran rising up is regarded as a very bad thing. Iran going all imperialistic and gobbling up oil producing companies puts the whole region on edge. A la Saddam Hussein gobbling up Kuwait. Anyone notice how the middle east really didn't bitch too much about the US going in and whooping him back into place? Destabilizing influences are frowned upon.
My belief is that, if Iran is seen as a realy threat, the rest of hte middle east will act. As a contigency, they now have the US (through Iraq) acting as a buffer. Iran has to go through Iraq (and the US) in order to hurt the rest of the gulf. Iran would also be stupid to use nukes again US troops...our policy is to nuke back. I don't think they're willing to trade Tehran for a couple thousand US troops.
