http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8398 Basically there's been a slowdown of the current that brings warm water north in the atlantic. Apparently this current raises European temperatures, but the amount of water heading that way has dropped by 30%. This brings fears that the current may fail altogether and plunge the entire continent into an ice age.

An old theory, but finally proven. However, an ice age seems a little far-fetched. I expect more a situation like the American east coast has now. It won't get any colder then that. |

I'm getting my post-nuclear bunker ready. I don't mind cold too much...but I usually don't have to deal with -50 either.  But if the cavemen could survive, I surely could. As an added bonus, I still got their hairy pelt but my superior brain.

Well they aren't as stupid as they were made out to be, pretty much as intelligent as us and survived for 3 Ice Ages before we appeared. That is a nice track record. Archaeologists are not even certain how they died out tho there is a modern opinion that it may be due to our ability to talk that won us it. |

pretty similar but the fact we could communicate better may have led to us being dominate. its complex. |
