Somehow, I have difficulties believing a Canadian minister on this issue. That's like going on the King of Swaziland's advice in macroeconomics.

is what you meant i think stupid canadians hehe.
methinks UFO's are real. UFO doesn't mean Alien. UFO could be a bird that was seen in fog so it wasn't recognisable as a bird

well, sure, unidentified flying object? I've seen several myself. Primarily in Germany. Probably satellites, actually...moving very rapidly and steadily from one side of the sky to the other, at the same time on multiple occasions. Of course, the article suggest alien intelligence behind it.
Are there really aliens? Probably. Are they in contact with our government? Beats the crap out of me....an alien intelligence would be, by definition, distinctly different then our own. Who knows how different, though...would they care about our stupid little governments and factionalism? Would they be benevolent, malevolent, or would they fit any of those stereotypes at all? I feel that if we ever discover alien intelligence, they'll be so completely alien to our beliefs that we won't know what to make of them. And will probably try to destroy them. But who knows...there are just so many unknowns.
It'd be cool as hell, though. And, I'm afraid, many Christians would find their faith undermined. Not that it goes against Christianity, but so many people feel that a god is very human-centric. He created us in his image...we are the center of the universe...etc etc. An alien intelligence (especially one more advanced than us technologically) would quite possibly cause alot of problems for these beliefs. And what if the aliens aren't religious at all?

im not saying any such thing. I think the universe is so freaking huge that the chances of us being the ONLY planet to develop life is far smaller than the chance for another planet(s) to have life as well.
However until I see an alien, I don't believe they're all flying round in saucers trying to make their way here to make peace/take over the world.

I'm saying that if they exist, the Canadian ministers wouldn't know about any contact with them. the US, Russia, sure...but Canada?

I believe aliens exist. Whether or not they're having sex with Barbara Bush, however, is a matter of debate.

If aliens where flying around or monitoring our planet do you think they would initial make contact with the general public? Like land in the middle of the superbowl?

If there are aliens monitoring us without us truly knowing about it, they would be sophisticated enough to avoid detection.
Supposing this is the case, the question regarding them wanting to make contact is fundamentally complex. We cannot consider their interests without any knowledge what so ever of them.

Their interest would obviously be observation, initially. Even if their interest was domination of the planet they would first study us.

I dont think its that simple. Youre assuming too much. We dont know anything about their cognitive characteristics.
