 Xbox 360 unstable
apparently the xbox 360 crashes. Alot.
slashdot
That brings up a question....did Bethesda delay Oblivion because Oblivion needed tweaking...or because they knew the Xbox crashed alot and didn't want their game to take the blame?
And why does it crash...Did MS change something that's causing game code to crash it (ie, the games need to be re-tweaked), or is it something with the Xbox 360 itself?

*shrugs* our demo one is ok, but thats just running a demo.
then again, its a stupid question to ask really. Why does it crash? Same reason windows does. It's an MS product.

A percentage of all hardware fails. Espescially new hardware. So I wonder wether this falls inside the normal number of faulty devices.
Not that I really care, I won't buy one anyway. If anyone deserves to win this console war it's Nintendo. At least they dare to innovate.

Halo 3? Anyway, there's still time to correct the problem.

If the Xbox is the main cause of delay for Oblivion (which is likely, given the nature of console/pc releases), I'm very pissed at this. I understand bethesda for wanting to reach a bigger audience (console gamers are a much larger market), but sheesh, don't let the hardcore RPG gamers in the cold.

I agree...but who knows what kind of contract they had with Microsoft. They probably had something that forced them to release Xbox before or at the same time as the PC version. Maybe they didn't want the bad press of a magically-crashing xbox, so they had to hold off both. But who knows. Maybe Oblivion really did need more testing.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that Microsoft changed something hardware-wise at the last minute, probably due either to shortages or cost. And that hardware change caused instability in game code built against different hardware. That's my guess. I don't see how what's being described could happen otherwise. MS may be popular for their bugginess, but they do quite a bit of testing....XP really wasn't that bad out of the box.

So its all in the interest of money, not the fans.

lol well did you really expect anything else derf?
All the original Xboxes had crappy cd trays. Ours is a bit dodgy. Sometimes it refuses to give you the cd and complains how it's *dirty or damaged*. Then there was the power cables "well actually if you bought it before x date, you need a replacement one coz they're not all that safe"... so there's more than likely something dodgy, not quite top-quality or just downright cheap in the 360.

Let it never happen again. Anyway it is likely that microsoft will repair it, that way they don't lose the money.

I wonder if it's the Core packs or the Premium packs, or a mix of both.
I imagine if it's the core packs it could be the lack of a hard drive.

It's all of them!!!! BURN THEM!!
Hehehe...jk man, wanted to start a little would-be console vs. pc flame war... just check on the oblivion forums if you wanna know what I mean.
And dunno...I think Microsoft would send the "top" models to stores or game conferences to showcase, so they probably affect the HD versions too.
