So, it's official...no more bell ringing and closing at 11pm! that's a big yay for when I go over to the UK one day, hehe. I'd freak out if they'd tell me to take a hike at 11pm. :o

Anyway, feelings, reactions? I have a feeling this will deal with some if the problems of the drunk youths hanging around in the streets. Instead, they can hang around in pubs barfing over each other! Wooo!

pubs closed at 11pm? Jesus christ...Texas (aka, the buckle of the bible belt) closes at like 3 or 4am or something.

anyway, I say good. It's not the government's place to tell people when to stop drinking.

This was in response to the large number of pubs applying for 24hr licenses.

Hopefully, this will quiet things down.

i hate drunks. i swear every day i wanna become a hermit more and more.

fucking stupid government. if you wanna drink all day, buy it at the supermarket, invite your mates round and get pissed in private.

this day gets worse and fucking worse.

*not good day*

OK students usually welcome this, it means I can have a decent evening in the pubs in York and go on a real pub crawl. I love the fact it has 365 pubs in one city which is the size of a large town.

Ever been to the continent? Most annoying drunks here are British tourists. Maybe if they learn to drink until after 11 they'll become less drunk, since they have more time to spend their limited amount of money in. Off course, the first time they'll still drink as fast, just like they do when they're somewhere without early closing times now. But after a few months both you and I will have less trouble with drunk retards.

"Most annoying drunks here are British tourists."

lol exactly. apparently in Ibiza and the greek spots that are renowned for "drunken sex holidays", all other tourists are 'normal', and brits cause nothing but trouble. Which is why I fail to see how this'll help. Instead of going on holiday for 14 days and drinking 24/7 for that time, they'll just drink 24/7 every sat/sun. and we'll have to put up with 'em. Gah. Yet more reasons for me to NOT go outside my flat.

hehe...I think people will go crazy for a bit, then chill out. I'm willing to bet the drunk retart level goes down in the long run. Pretty much what Arathorn said. :)

Indeed.

Pevil, you forget that those people are on holiday. They are used to spending a lot of money on holiday, and they're used to drink a lot in a short time because in the UK, they have to hurry. After a few very expensive fridays and saturdays they'll learn how to drink slower.

Yeah I'm hoping that, it just means that there are other places besides nightclubs to drink for me and longer pub crawls. But I don't seem to see that many people get pissed out of their skulls round me.
[edit] the fact that we are students might have something to do with it tho I would hate to go into Manchester when this is passed.

They're also mainly students. Students (mainly) already do this when they're at uni. I lived in halls so i know the average drinking hours of a student. And money expenditure. It's called a Student Loan.
