Post autonomous combat robots?
Story

From the article:

Quote:
The robot will be armed with various weapons and will operate both by remote control and its own artificial intelligence system.

Great. An armed combat robot that's expect to run off its own AI? Anyone see a problem with this?

Yes! The end of us!

I think complex algorithm will be much better. I think thatll take more effort to develop, but atleast it wont wipe us out.

peltz works at an all-night carwash? Sweet zombie jesus!

as for AI..."AI" is so improperly used. What they're talking about is an algorithm. AI is not in sight at this time.

But I don't trus algorithms with the potential to murder people.

I think this will fit in nicely here, if you want to build something on your own: http://cs-people.bu.edu/aaron/turret/turret.htm

*ignores J's link for now*

Yes, algorithms can be very dangerous too. It all depends who writes them.

I wouldn't trust myself to write an algorithm that could end in a mruderous robot rampaging through London. Paris maybe, but not London. There would have to be some serious quality control on that software.

btw, the sentry gun is cool.
