I think complex algorithm will be much better. as for AI..."AI" is so improperly used. What they're talking about is an algorithm. AI is not in sight at this time. I wouldn't trust myself to write an algorithm that could end in a mruderous robot rampaging through London. Paris maybe, but not London. There would have to be some serious quality control on that software.
