Damn this was wack. I can't remember Holland ever playing this badly. Even the Euro 2000 game against Italy doesn't come close. Let me see:
- Passing was wack.
- Play tempo was way too low.
- Receiving passes was wack.
- Keeping the ball in play was hopeless.
- Getting past your opponent was suddenly near impossible.
- But most of all: marking your man (is this the term, I'm looking for a translation of "mandekking", Ox, J?). Every Russian attack, there was at least one player undefended. The Dutch defenders were meters away from their targets every time. What the fuck is this? Second division football? How can you forget almost everything you've learned since you started playing at the age of eight?

Technically speaking the term is 'manmarking', so you pretty much got it right. What a game from Russia, they completely overclassed Holland for 80% of the match....and Arshavin, WOW! What a player. Constant danger for the defense, kept running for 120 minutes....

The only Holland player playing a good gaming was Van der Sar. Me and my friends had been cursing him all match long (sorry Arathorn ) cos he made one great save after the other...

@ Satis: the semi finals are on Wednesday and Thursday, and the final will be played on Sunday. Btw, you do realize how politically incorrect the Deutschland uber alles chant is?

Well, for once we can only blame the players and not the coach. He was the only one who wasn't over-confident after the first two matches. Why do those motherfuckers fall for the same problem time after time, tournament after tournament? Are they too dumb to learn from the past?

Russia beat Holland at its own game. The last 15 minutes clearly showed what kind of a beast the russian team really is. When the dutch players were barely hanging on, the russians took advantage of this and crushed them utterly and completly.

Holland should have played like the russians did and vice versa. When i watched the game i kept thinking this is holland against holland but the wrong holland is better.

I think Holland have a permanent version of what caused Portugal to get knocked out. Basically they can't play as a team for any long duration.

I have to say russia looked very skillful and put together some amazing moves. Perhaps they could have scored more.

I am somewhat crapping myself over tonights game (italy v espana). For some reason in this tournament above all others, I have an irresitible urge for Italy to win it all. Maybe im just greedy.
