Nice, does this mean you'll be hanging around here a bit more?
Had enough of my job now, trying real hard to find another but its not going well. 2 and 1/2 years of commuting is wearing me out Getting up at 5 is a bitch

If my workload (or lack thereof) stays anything like it is right now, I'm probably going to be making a lot more appearances on here yeah.
Good luck in finding another job...I know firsthand that it sucks. Lot of work for little return.

The economy sucks. You're not the only one that wants an alternative. But it's better to have a crappy job than no job at all.
Anyway, grats on becoming a mildly productive member of society.

Mildly is the word. At this point, I am -relatively speaking- actually costing society TONS of money in return for little work (seeing as I work for the government and people's taxes pay my wages). Not my problem though!
And as for the economy sucking, sure, but it's not like I don't have anything backing me up. Master's (granted, in a not very practical field - but still), additional Master's, work experience (abroad), still relatively young. Shit, if I can't find a decent job then 70% of society is pretty much hopelessly trying. So nah, I'm not too worried.
And dude, BJ, 5 AM? I get up at 7.30 and I feel like a truck ran over me every day.

Yeah man, tell me about it...I get up at 5, drive 1 1/2 hours to work, do 7 and 1/2 hours, then another 1 and 1/2 hour drive back.
Basically I am 24/7 shot
I hate my working life like Satis said though, better than not having a job, that would be even worse. I'd go nuts being at home all day..

heh...I wake up at 5:30 most mornings to go running. At work by 7am. But I leave at 4pm, so it's not so bad.
As for staying at home, i'd love that. I've got plenty to keep me occupied. It's the lack of money that comes with no working that I don't like.

I've got it pretty easy comparatively. Get up at 0735 with a 20 minute snooze beforehand (otherwise its too painful getting up). Out the door by 0800, bus to work for 0900, finish 1730. Home by 1830.

Amen to that! If I were to play on the lottery (ie pay tax on stupidity) and win the big time, I'd quit my job altogether and apply myself to everything I find interesting (pretty much anything really ).
When I was in high school it was always funny to see the difference between my best friend and me. The last year, with the 3-month gap between the end of school and start of college, he was bouncing off the walls by the end. I felt that 3 months was too short a time to really enjoy the holidays.
The only reason I can imagine for still going to work would be social contact, your colleagues - if they're cool. I tend to avoid social contact if I can, in general. But even then...I'd stay home. All day. Sleep in. Do stuff when i want to do it and how. Life is good if you got the daytime to do things...everything is open, few people on the road, nice weather. You can't take advantage of that stuff if you're stuck working.

I agree. I was laid off for 9 months and just stayed at home. I never got bored. I played guitar, I played games, I did crap on my computer. With the things I know now, I'd be making music, coding, doing graphic design, home study for courses and crap I want, exercising... there's no way I'd get bored for a long time. The social contact thing is true, though... you need to be able to get out. Working 40+ hrs a week is bad for my creativity, though... I've noticed I'm at my most creative at like 3am (assuming I'm not dead tired, of course). I can't do that if I'm working.

He may be calling 2 year old a special kind of hell.
And yes, having a young child or spouse at home to bug you kinda defeats the happiness aspect of staying home all day. But children driving me nuts is one of the reasons I don't have children.

I've thought about it. In about the same way I think about going Postal, committing suicide or quitting life and becoming an aid worker in Africa. A passing fancy I never take very seriously.
Besides, I raised a kid for about a year (around 1 year old). I've had my fill.
