What's the American obsession with Vietnam vets though? News and ads like this always mention if someone is a Vietnam vet, but isn't anyone from about that age one? How will being a Vietnam vet help him run an agricultural board? Now if he were decorated, that may say something about his ability to make tough decisions, but for all we know he was just the camp cook.

Too me why street fighter remains my favourite fighting game.

To help you understand, if you're not a street fighter fan; each one of the parry blocks that ken does has to be done manually for every one of Chun Li's attacks - and she's doing a hyper attack (Or variation) which means she's moving faster than normal and she's one of the fastest characters anyway!

Would have loved to have been there live.

I'm sorry I'm a geek!

Oh, I'm also sorry if it's been posted before - I'm just running through some old youtube fav's :D

EDIT: Same video, with less crap on the screen and including the full fight. This also show's you Chun Li's hyper landing sucessfully, to give you a real taste of the speed it comes at. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS5peqApgUA&NR=1

The US has an obsession with veterans in general Arathorn. Even people who never saw any combat (during peacetime for example) but served in the army are considered 'veterans'. Satis qualifies as one. :) In contrast, in Europe veterans are only people who have actually served in warfare, which hasn't exactly been a primary activity of our armies in the last 60 years or so.

Besides, I don't know if I'd want to put a vietnam vet in a supervising position. What with the dope, crushed dreams, PTSS and general war fail. :P Now, a veteran of Mboto Gorge on the other hand...*

*
Melchett: Don't be ridiculous, Darling. The Hero of Mboto Gorge, mad? Well, you've only got to look at him to see he's as sane as I am! Beeaaah!
Darling: Would that the Mboto Gorge where we massacred the peace-loving pygmies of the Upper Volta and stole all their fruit?
Blackadder: No -- a totally different Mboto Gorge.

George: Now, come off it, sir -- what about Mboto Gorge, for heaven's sake?
Blackadder: Yes, that was a bit of a nasty one -- ten thousand Watusi warriors armed to the teeth with kiwi fruit and guava halves. After the battle, instead of taking prisoners, we simply made a huge fruit salad

Field Marshall Haig: I haven't seen you since....
Blackadder: '92, sir -- Mboto Gorge.
Field Marshall Haig: By jingo, yes. We sure gave those pygmies a good squashing.
Blackadder: We certainly did, sir. And do you remember...?
Field Marshall Haig: My god, yes. You saved my damn life that day, Blacky. If it weren't for
you, that pygmy woman with the sharpened mango could have seriously...
Blackadder: It was a viciously sharp slice of mango, sir.

Captain Blackadder claims to have joined the army in 1888, when "if you saw someone in a skirt, you shot him and nicked his country". He joined the 19th/45th East African Rifles, when Britain was fighting colonial wars during the Scramble for Africa, a time when "the prerequisite for any battle was that the enemy should under no circumstances carry a gun".

All heap on the Blackadder love! All seasons are hilarious and the final episode is even... touching.

The sad thing is that the portrayal of the British generals in the series is probably not that far from the truth. They were blundering idiots who not only made mistakes (which itself could be excusable), but also kept repeating them.

To answer Arathorn's question, military service is thought to imbue a higher level of personal responsibility in a person. This can be true... it was true in my case. Why was Vietnam service considered such a big deal? Not really sure... it may be related to how Vietnam vets were treated like crap when they first came back... not a proud moment for America. Regarding losing of that war, I blame our government more than our military, but that's an argument for another day. :)

lolz @ Blackadder. I'll admit I'm not a big fan... I've watched an episode or three, but to me it's typical British comedy... some gems, but mostly dry and boring as hell. Still, those parts were entertaining.
