They didn't have Segway Tours when I was there! I mighta liked the place then! As for those hills... hehe, yeah I wouldn't usually mind them but after 24 hours of travelling then being forced to walk up one while shattered just to get food, I wasn't too happy
Great pictures, don't recognise any of those places (except the bridge of course) though I went to the wharf as well. Love that tree you stood in!

I'll have to echo the sentiments about the pics and the trip here, looks great I think Satis looks a little too happy in the Alcatraz pic, but other than that good stuff. Is it true that San Fran is the most 'European' city in the US? That question is mostly for Satis, since I don't think Shiny has ever been to Europe.
For some reason I am reminded of the very fucked up pic of me and two friends of mine standing under the "Arbeit macht frei" arch in Theresienstadt. Still feel kinda bad about that.

It's still a very American city... there are also a lot of Chinese that live there, so it's actually very Asian. But yes, it definitely has some European flavor to it. On the other hand, it's practically thronged with tourists who are unmistakeably American. *shrugs*
As for the "most" European city in the US, I don't know. Austin has a European flavor as well. By European I assume you're talking less architecture and more attitude, right?

Both really. Architecture in the sense of brick houses in a row, kinda like Greenwich Village in NY city. Like this:
http://travelguideofamerica.com/mainstr ... illage.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... illage.jpg
Attitude in the sense of a little more liberal in their ideas on sex, gay rights, abortion and a little less religious than most other areas or major cities in the US.
I know a few people who've been to San Fran and they were all enamoured by it. Euro people I mean. And about the Asian community: in Fallout 2, San Fran has been turned into a flourishing community of Asian survivors who hid in a submarine when the bombs fell. And there's also a big chapter of the 'Hubologists' (religious fanatics who are a parody on scientology, cfr. Hubbard -> Hubologists. They worship "the Great Hub" )
Is Austin that European? I'm guessing you were talking architecture then.

Ok, you're right about San Fran being European as far as row houses are concerned. I hadn't really considered that. So yes, you are correct. Small, winding streets as well... I suppose that might strike a chord with many euros.
As for Austin I was actually talking more about attitude. It's a very liberal city with very friendly inhabitants, or it was last time I spent any time there. The architecture is more American I think.

Nice! Loved that park and the old Southern plantation style house. What kinda trees are those, any idea? Kinda jealous of the food too.
And is it just me, or does img219's overall background suggest Mardi Gras beads? Cause y'know, in that case I think you should share the other pictures from that particular event too, all in the name of cultural fraternization, of course.

heh... I really should have some clankiller shirts made.
@Ox, actually that pic was taken on Bourbon street on Saturday night, which is the center of Mardi Gras for those not in-the-know. So yea, beads is about right. One of our friends got some beads for deep-throating a hot dog. However, the only breasts I was privy to were in the strip club. And for some reason they frown on photography.
The trees on the plantation were oaks that are around 200 years old. I also forgot to post this, but there's a video of the crocodiles available too.

You may need to right-click and save-as... I'm having issues streaming it directly from the link for some reason.

If you all are really good I might let Satis post some pics from our party last night. This one was a Star Wars theme. But, truthfully it was not as good as our parties normally are but... well I had a death in my immediate family last week and well it was hard to focus on both at the same time. That and I had planned a party for today for a friend too. So, not so much time to make everything perfect.
As for Bourbon street, well I think we spent at least $700 on strippers the first night. My girlfriend had hickeys from the strippers lmao. We were so damn drunk.

I'd be up for Star Wars party pics! Slightly bummed at no Bourbon Street boobies though. Weren't those alligators in the clip a little bit dangerous? I mean they look like they could (at the very least) damage your fingers pretty good...or was that one of the guides?
Satsi, could you tell me how to get the pics up at CK? I weeded them out and converted them to a workable size, so most work is done...all I need now is a place to put them (and if possible, seperate them in groups, for context).
And no, there isn't a single pic of me anywhere in them. I went on my own, so it's not like there were any people around to photograph me.

blah, you suck. I'm all over those NO pics. Anyway, if you want to use the script that I use for my pics, you need all your pics...any name you want and a decent size (like 1024x768 is what I used). Then you need to make thumbnails of each pic with a width of 200px and whatever that comes out to for height. You need to have the same filename as the other pic, but prepended by thumb_. I use VSO Image Resizer to automate that process. http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/
I can then provide the script, you make one change to the top of the script (the title of the collection), then place all the pics and the script into its own directory.
If you need step-by-step directions let me know.

If there was someone else taking pictures too I might have slipped in a pic of me Probably at the beach, with my rock-hard abs and milky white skin. And body hair.
Erhhm...nevermind. I think I got most of your techno mumbo jumbo, my pics are a slightly higher resolution (1094x821, hahaha) and I can probably use irfanview to make a batch conversion into thumbnails. I'll check it out.
The only "problem" would be getting the pics to a directory of yours. FTP or some such?
