LOL...you know what? I hadn't seen the original attachment by Mole cos of posting-confusion, so i saw this one first and thought this was the "original" spam hehe...shows how much we're used to by now from spam. nice work thought Satis. :) I think we should sue spam...i mean, it's basically saying that you date-rape girls by hypnotizing them. If i can sue cig companies, i should be able to sue spam, i'd prove two big favors at once, one to society (i'd be a hero!) and one to my wallet.

Bah, good luck suing some guy in Nigeria or Russia or something. Still, it seems most spammers are Americans. :/

I have deep faith in the judicidal system of Nigeria and Russia, dammit! ;) The fact that most spam has horrible spelling and/or syntax would suggest that spammers are either:

a)non-native english speakers
b)english speakers which are extremely dumb

the second part of the hypothesis rounds up nicely with the fact that spammers are the lowest of low. :)

yea, I think (b) is usually more accurate. Indeed, spam has alot of misspellings (unfortuanetly, alot may be on purpose to avoid spam filters), but the grammatical construction of sentences is typically very American (or at least native-English speaker). So I think it's (b) for the most part. Most non-english speakers user peculiar turns of speech which make it obvious that they're not Americans/native English speakers.

I love Engrish.

I like the way they're all "And visit the customer service section" which just reminds me of the classic teen movie "You should look in a mirror some time!".

The horrible grammatical problems are always my first clue that it's a phishing attempt. You'd think these guys would hire Ox to write some semi-coherent crap.

Punctuation is often bogus too. Man i feel sorry for the people who've been scammed by these emails, i really do. Newer generations should automatically be really good at detecting this kind of stuff.

From what i notice newer generations suck terribly at grammar, punctuation and all related. I'm often amazed by the stupid questions kids in classes ask.

Example:

Previous week i had to monitor a class while they were having french exams. Some of them didn't know the word 'introduction' (it's the same in french as in english). In dutch you can even use the word 'introductie'.
They don't even have the basic vocabulary in their own language.
I got a LOT of those questions, at first i thought they were trying to get me to give hints, but they even asked their french teacher afterwards the same (stupid) questions.

In short: kids these days aren't as developed (in general) as you would expect them to be. Chatting on a computer, sure, but making something like a graph on a computer ... terrible. Seems like logical thinking has been abandoned by current generation :P

I've heard similar things. That and all the "texting" shorthand is screwing up their ability at spelling and grammar. IE, they can't differentiate between shortcut "u r teh hawt" and real grammatical English "You sure are attractive, you sexy bitch!"

Anyway, that's just stupidity at another level. I've always spoken and written in two very distinct ways (posting here is more like I talk in real life). Writing papers or whatever I automatically and subconsciously drop into "proper English" mode.

People are just stupid.

And Gfree, to answer your question, that sentence is a fragment. No marketing department worth a damn would allow a sentence fragment into an official company email. Not to mention its unprofessional tone.

Strangely the situation is kinda same here. New generations just don't get many things that were self-evident in my time.

Before I came to Bulgaria to study, I worked with kids for years. It was about school choir and solo singers. Every year there were less and less talents. Not sure how it is today, but I heard teachers complain it is much much worse than it was. I can't imagine it.

Vocabulary of young people sucks here too. They are FULL of slang words that only they can understand and so on, but are missing words like "triangle", "idea", "pen"... and if you serve them a sentence that is longer than 10-15 words, prepare to have to simplify it if you want to be understood. Allusions, metaphors, and that stuff?? Don't even try.

I even experienced a girl (about '94 generation) who tried to LEARN the table of adding. Yes, the table of adding. She was asking me and different people "How much is 1+10", "How much is 1+12" etc. After she get an answer she would write it down on a paper. The most irritating thing about it is that every day she had a new paper and asked people the same questions. And besides that she was a normal person with even more logical thinking than most of people (people who "get" adding). :o I mean... no way of settling her in some institution that has to deal with retards. No way to make her get damn adding. Dead position in chess.

I just don't get what's wrong with all those generations. Global brainwash?

This is a problem too. Teachers simply stop to expect their students to understand anything that's not simple. I bet most of "normal" kids gets omitted and merged with the rest by this. So I can call it inert retardance of teachers.

Not to mention that today's generations will inevitably replace today's teachers some day.
