Yes, Arathorn, I think Italy can and will beat the Franks, but I don't think Romania will lose vs Holland. Holland will have to do us a big favour considerign they're already through, and I doubt they give a shit whether they win/lose against Rom.

Van Basten's more concerned in keeping the good spirit from the last two matches alive in the team. If we play badly against Romania, we'll have bad vibes when we play the quarter final and may loose there. We're not invincible. Also, look at the last results against those teams, we beat Italy and France 3-0 and 4-1 last time, and in our last match against Romania, we lost 1-0. So we're more than happy with Italy through instead of Romania.
Off course, van Basten will rest the two players with yellow cards, and make one or two changes to rest tired players, but the strength of this team is not in one individual (except for van der Sar), and the subs will want to prove they deserve a place in the first team.
