lol...let me count with you J:

2 months during the holidays (July and August)
2 weeks around Christmas
2 weeks around Easter
1 week in November
1 week in February

and the whole shabang of public holidays I mentioned earlier.

J has more holidays in one year than Shiny and Satis combined over 2-3 years. :o Bastard!

Argh, you're a whore!

On a positive note, I don't have to deal with children. And children annoy the piss out of me.

But yes... Europeans have no room to talk about American work ethic. Well, we may not have an ethic, but we work a hell of a lot.

Of course, you can't compare us with Japan. They make us look lazy.

To my defence: those 2 months now are actually the only real months of vacation. Other vacations i'm often busy working for school anyways.
And don't forget the weekends. I have quite a lot of work on weekends, a whole sunday of preparing and correcting are no exception.

But yeah i have a lot of time where i can schedule my schoolwork in. You won't hear me complain about a lack of holidays.

Did i mention i have 2 months of holiday now?

Heh, look what I found:

http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/ ... ness4.html
Quote:
American workers stay longer in the office, at the factory or on the farm than their counterparts in Europe and most other rich nations, and they produce more per person over the year.

They also get more done per hour than everyone but the Norwegians, according to an International Labour Organisation (ILO) report released Monday, which said the United States "leads the world in labour productivity".

Each U.S. worker produces US$63,885 (€46,867) of wealth per year, more than his or her counterpart in all other countries, the ILO said in its report.

Ireland comes in second at US$55,986 (€41,073), ahead of Luxembourg, US$55,641 (€40,819); Belgium, US$55,235 (€40,522); and France, US$54,609 (€40,062).

Belgium in 4th?! LOL. Well, at least we still got our holidays. :P

What's the use of making lots of money if you don't get time to spend it?

Probably somebody else, like your kids, can spend it for you... almost not knowing you nor that this money is earned by hard work. Result = mostly retards incapable of carrying on with the life of masses.

Wow, my unscientific hypothesis that American's aren't lazy ass workers was correct. :P I'm surprised France rated so highly. And I'm equally surprised Japan didn't show up in there.

When you are smart and skilled enough, the money is just a side(by-)product. Only the ignorant people see the money as the one and only goal.

Been quiet for a while, because i just started my new job and was completely total loss every day. Not because the job is so difficult (hah) but because I'm not used to getting up at 7.30 anymore. :P

But anyways, I'm currently employed as a translator...in civil service. i'm a friggin' civil servant! (ambtenaar for the Dutchies) After a good week, I can already tell you that the rumours are true...nothing ever gets done, everything needs 13546 stamps and signatures, there's little room for initiative and/or growth...

If I weren't so good at entertaining myself on the Intarwebz I probably would have shot myself by now. The job really is a bit of a dilemma, though: the hours are GREAT (work 7,5 hours a day, gliding hours between 7.30 and 10.30 in the morning), perks are decent (free bus pass, cheap hospital insurance, cheap meals) and holidays are plentiful (26+ days a week). I just found out you can get a day off for donating blood too - up to 8 days a year, haha.

So...stuck between a pretty lame job in a stifling environment and great working conditions. I'm guessing i'm gonna sit this out while I look for something else...I still got 6 months of probation, so I can get out without giving notice (well, have to give a week's notice, peanuts).

Yay for work! :P At least I'll be able to buy me a nice and shiny monster pc for the gaming season soon.
