Let's cut the red cross some slack tho ppl, they're an autonomous organization made up by volunteers, who largely depend on donations. Rip the FEMA or anything as much as you like tho. :)

Shit @ the damage tho 11b. On the bright side, it looks like MAJOR damage to your property is kept at a minimum, aye? I don't count the woorden fence.

Nice place btw. Airco and a pool, jeez, you a millionaire or something? :)

Airco seems to be quite common over there. Well you must have one with hot summers in houses like that I guess.

I still think he's a millionaire. But you're probably right, hehe.

On another note: is it true that most houses in "hurricane-sensitive" areas in the US are built using wood? Just wondering.

?? what a wierd world you guys live in.

If you didn't have an air conditioner in texas, you would die. Seriously. Keel over and die. When the AC goes out, you wish you would die. Sitting in large puddles of your own sweat is not fun. :p

And why would all houses be made of wood?

Ok, here a brief overview of FEMA.

My county was declared a disaster area by the President. If you county was declared a disaster area then you are eligible for help from FEMA....WRONG

Heres the deal.

If you have home owners insurance, FEMA will not give you any money.

So, basiclly, if you have insurance you get fucked.

If you dont have insurance, you get a free ride.

WHAT KIND OF FUCKED UP SYSTEM OF BULLSHIT IS THIS?

So you tell me what sounds better?

Pay insurance on your house, then when it gets damaged by a hurricane, pay a $500 to $3,000 deductable to your insurance company to get money from your insurance company to get it fixed...

or

pay nothing on insurance then when your house gets damaged by a hurricane Fema covers everything.

Does anyone else see the falking problem here?

You know what this sounds like? Welfare. Dont work and get paid.
You know what else this sounds like? Social Security for poor people.

Dont put nothing in, but get something out.

falking joke!

Sorry for the cursing but Im upset.

Yes, I have homeowners insurance. Im not totally sure whats cover until the adjuster calls me. I already made my claim.

O and thanks guys/gals for being glad I am ok. O and even though Lacessit didnt say it, I know in his heart he cant live without me...

its the same the world over though.

"look at me, I work 40 hours a week and have to pay Council Tax/Income Tax/Insurance etc"

"heh well look at me. I'm a fat bitch who doesn't wanna work, so I get free money, benefits, tax reductions. Up yours!"

I fucking hate freeloaders. #cough#

It's just the way of the world. We're nice to those who 'need' it whether its their own fault or just a bad circumstance... You need to be a lazy bum that does sod all :P ;)

I hate freeloaders.

I hate lazy people.

I hate whiners.

If I were in charge, people would either work or starve. I don't mind giving them something to do if they can't find a job themselves, but I would never give someone money for not doing anything at all. That, to me, is the biggest problem with welfare....why get off it if it's completely free? Lazy bastards. I could never do that. I'd rather work at 7/11 giving slurpees to stoners than collect welfare money.

Perhaps it is not the intention that such welfare provisions are given to those who dont really need them. Perhaps its just an error in distribution?

lol, fuck that man. What's up with the morals? Other ppl won't think twice about spending your tax money, so why would you about spending theirs? Heck, I'd get on welfare the moment I could. :) Society sustaining me would make total sense, cos i'm awesome.

As for the houses...it's something I've read alot lately; that many houses in the US use a wooden frame and aren't built using bricks and stone, but other materials. Most sources also say that this is changing, so meh.

It would explain some of the cheapness of housing in the US, I guess. Apart from the abundant free space.

lol I'm with Satis on this one.

When I worked at the Brid branch of GAME one guy was trying ot get fired, coz if you quit you can't get benefits, but if you're fired you can. But the company didn't want the paperwork of firing him, so they wanted him to quit. I think he's still stuck there

Reminds me of a guy I know. Got a job as a salesman and the company stated that if he quits he's find. Last time I saw him he was trying to get fired or raise enough money to pay.
