lol, maybe we do work at the same company. We actually do have an office in England. But they're all a bunch of worthless tards. They're more incompetent then the US side.

Heh - I am home with the flu for one day even though I have been very sick all week. I emailed my boss that I would be out today and she emails me back with get batter and we are going through your desk. Tell me where you stand. I reply several hours later since I was in bed asleep and sick and tell her the status. She writes back that she is glad I am actually up on my duties and not behind so she didn't have to do them. I don't know if I should be pissed that she doubted me or happy that she complimented me. Bottom line I think bosses use a sickness to go through your desk.

My boss doesn't go through my desk. If he did he's just find a pile of drawings I make while in meetings.

lol @ backup plan.
And no, we don't do any manufacturing in Ireland. All our manufacturing is stateside. I was kidding anyway, my company is only about 200 people including the international operations. We're kind of a niche market (digital signage).

If my boss went through my desk, I'd sue him. I'm pretty sure he's not allowed to rummage through my private space at work, by law. When i was working here for what, 3 weeks, I was working late and my only other co-worker had left for a meeting and left his pc on (unlocked).
Suddenly, my boss walks in (to put a document on my colleague's desk), sees the pc and starts printing emails from my co-worker's outlook. Walks to the printer tray, takes the emails, walks out without looking at me.
I was going
Ever since then, i've been extremely paranoid at work. I always lock my screen, always take my phone with me, never write anything incriminating down and I even refuse to give my co-workers my private email address. They think I'm a bit of a sociopatic dick.
If my boss goess through my stuff, all he will find is doodles and nonsensical remarks.

That's old one.
Aye... I can only re-mention my love for the order. Not a piece of paper where it should not be.
Nonetheless I need not to mention `Ox would probably retreat from the statement he was paranoid if he knew what means I use to prevent anybody from accessing to my private stuff at uni/work and in overall.
Tip: the best way of preventing somebody find a piece of paper with the stuff that compromise you is never letting such a piece of paper ever exist.

lol@Ox. I try to keep my box locked at all times as well, more to keep pranksters out than anything. My desk itself has nothing of any real value on it, everything is in electronic form. If they busted into my machine they'd find all kinds of stuff, though. At least I uninstalled that game.

Well to add insult to injury I received an email from a coworker on my home email account yesterday. I never gave her my personal email account, which just ticks me off that someone else decided she could have access to it. That makes me furious. Obviously if I need to email my boss that I am sick I need to use my home account since I was denied remote access. But I am very pissed that they would think it OK to give that out to the other employees.

I must second that for address abuse. To all my students I gave an e-mail where they can send whatever they want and get response within 24h. Regardless of that I got them finding my icq or/and skype addresses and requesting contacts. First I tried to live with accepting contacts. Then some guys started really pestering me with stuff not-at-all-related to the faculty. Something like: a guy copypasted a JS and shows me how his website works perfectly (err... alright?). Once, shortly after 00:00, I was heading for bed, and a guy asked me via skype to help his gf with the exam she had to have tomorrow. The gal wasn't even from our university and she spoke no language I do. He intended to be simultaneous translator. (WTF?! I mean... good night and good luck)
Then it all ended.
*appendix*
I was also getting people on my doors, so those electronical ways of disturbing can be even considered for mild ones.

People refusing to respect the fact I have a private life irritates me. If my boss had handed out my private account to someone without my permission, I would be pissed and give him an earful. But I'm an asshole. I chewed out my boss's boss when he called me during my lunch (on my personal cell phone, with another guy on the line). He still doesn't think he did anything wrong and I still think he's an asshole. End result? I don't answer my phone any more unless I recognize the number and you're someone I want to talk to. Everyone else goes to voicemail.
Oh, on a positive note, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I bitch and complain quite a bit and I don't back down when I think I'm right. I also get raises and other monetary rewards more often than most people. When they give me money I'm more agreeable for a little while, I guess.
