Hahaha, I wish...no, it was the result of a few factors: working in the Czech Republic, having a lot of Dutch colleagues, and working on a new project with a lot of young people. Of the maybe 50 people there, only about 10% was over 30 (and sometimes just barely).

Hell, even our project manager got so wasted she passed out in the room of one of my pals. She was in her mid thirties and fairly attractive. A sober colleague dragged her out of that room just to be on the safe side. You never know.

Want more? A girl from another team asked the management if she could be put in the same room as a colleague of mine - without asking him first or even being together with him. Management complied. They only left their room to eat during the entire weekend. :P

On the first evening I was the last to leave the bar - I thought. As I was walking out the door, I bumped into a co-worker (he's 2.06m, hard to miss him). I was like 'wtf' because I hadn't seen him in like 4 hours and hadn't left the bar during. Turns out he threw up on the toilet a few hours ago, went in the bar to ask for a cloth to clean up the toilet, and then fell asleep with his head next to the toilet while cleaning. lol.

Three of my co-workers did shots with slivovice...7 in a row. :? One of them crawled on another person's bed naked, fell asleep, barfed on the bed next to him and resumed sleeping, naked, on the covers.

This is all the first night. On the second night, I was the one who got drunk. And lucky. :P At least I didn't barf or get naked or did something with her in plain view!

Welcome to the Czech Republic, where they hold booze-fueled orgies on the company. :P It was an American company, btw...I'd post some pics of the evening but I better don't.

lol, holy crap, that sounds awesome. Except for all the barf. Christ, why can't my company be fun? The most 'fun' we have are holiday parties, and those are about as dry as they could possible be. Ever seen office space? The birthday party in that movie was similarly interesting, except the holiday parties are usually on a Saturday and you have to dress in a suit. I went last year.... not going this year, no way.

Stay away from the Jack Daniels Satis, it's no good. Just buy a bottle of Laphroaig and you'll never want any other whisky.
Anyway, the Slivovitsa stuff is something I must try. I'll see if I can find any stores over here that sell it and report back when I've drunk it.

I have no doubt you can find it in some Polish convenience store Arathorn. :)

@ Satis: wtf? work parties in the weekend? With a DRESSCODE?! Man, no wonder you don't go anymore. Friday the 2nd of January my work day will look like this:

-walk in at 9
- wake up in front of PC
- around 11 or so my direct superior gives a drink, with cider and cake and chocolates
- around 12 we go down into the main hall where a copious banquet with food, champagne, beer and wine awaits us.
- at this point you're free to go home (counts as a full work day)
- lasts until 5 or 7 PM

Man, I'm never gonna go fucking work in the US. :P Well, maybe if it's Bethesda.

heh, depends on the corporation. But yea, my company does not have much fun. On the other hand, I have a lot of freedom here, so I can't complain too much. But getting drunk on the company dime just doesn't happen. And we're certainly not in a pub regularly having sing-a-longs.

*mind boggles*

Yeah well... get this! GAME is going to give us all... wait for it... £5 each for a christmas night out! Wooooo £5! Oh yeah I can feel the taxi ride home now... coz that'll cost me £14... But if we passed our mystery shops for the year we get 'bonus bonds' (like vouchers only usable in certain places) so we can go eat... I doubt we'll get a huge amount though somehow.

Tight bastards with their millions of profits...

lol, that's awesome.

For Christmas parties (at least in the US at least) it's customary for the company to give out presents to the employees that go to the company Christmas party. Sometimes everyone will get something, something it's raffled off to a lucky few, you know. I went to one of Shiny's and they were giving out some cool crap like electronics and stuff. Hell if I remember exactly what, but it was decent, free swag.

We've gone to two of my company's Christmas parties... they gave out these ginormous and ugly as hell Christmas tree ornaments. Both times.

haha..wow, I gotta get in on THAT deal. And a 5 quid voucher Pev? Goddamn...that's like what, 2 beers? One cocktail? 2 cokes?

I forgot to mention that my previous job also gave out meal vouchers that were good at pretty much every restaurant in Prague. In some rare event you could even just go out drinking with them (if the bartender felt cooperative). And then there were the infamous "flexipasses" which were some sort of all-purpose vouchers that could be used at most cinemas, theatres, health spas, massage parlors, fitness centres, travel companies and whatnot.

I only really used them to go to the movies, and I always had tons to spare. Yeah, living in prague wasn't too bad. Too bad the basic wage was so crap. :P
