My first experience was in Bulgaria, after 24+ years of life. I ... really didn't like spending a whole night in the toilet, and then being the whole next day in the Uni, with a furl of toilet paper. It does kill!

I never really had food poisoning...or blood poisoning. That one is usually caused by allergies right? I guess I get/got lucky with visiting Turkish kebab places.
When I was young, we used to have this kid in our 'gang' who was severely allergic to EVERYTHING. On top of that he was aquaphobic. The funny thing was, instead of being the nerd-ish loner with suicidal thoughts you would expect him to be at that age with such a skillset, he was rather popular and even violent. But I do remember him crying because he wouldn't go through a nettle field because he was allergic; or how he started freaking out when we threw him into the local creek.
Aquaphobes don't like that too much. But dude, I still don't get wtf problem was...the water was maybe knee-high. It's not like he was gonna drown or something. Lamer.
Erh..carry on...

hah...I think the whole point of a phobia is that it makes little sense. Like, say, people that are afraid of snakes. Throw a little, harmless grass snake at them and see what happens.
When I was a kid I was claustrophobic. You just get an overwhelming feeling of being trapped and unable to escape (y'know, plus fear). I can mildly identify with that stuff. Though aquaphobia is a bit odd. Did he bathe?

heh...when we were out camping we used to wash ourselves in the river/creek, but he always filled a little basin instead and washed himself with a washcloth. So yeah, he did bathe, just not in a body of water.
No idea how he washed himself at home, though. I would imagine a sort of very slow-streaming shower? Beats me. A bath tub would probably be too much...
As for phobias: we tended to be pretty...pragmatic about them back when we were young. Basically, if you showed a particularly large fear for some such thing, the rest would do their best to expose you to it. We were a pretty fucked up bunch. I probably shouldn't tell you the story of this supposed gay guy and his erhm, ordeals. Let's just say it would classify as a hate crime these days.
Of course, I wasn't ever actively involved. Knew better than to get my hands dirty. And I counted myself lucky I don't have any particular phobias, except perhaps for a great fear of heights. You still a claustro?

What a miserable life! Ok, at least he bathes.
And lol at the claustrophobia thing. I think I am very slow (yes: slow) to scare as long as a rationally acknowledgeable threat doesn't exist. I remember once being in an elevator that stared swinging like it will fall down (flashback: in the past it had fallen down once, and a man got his both legs broken) but even my heartbeat rate remained unchanged. As I left the elevator (nothing happened there in) I felt rush of adrenaline and a freaking feeling like I would jump out of my own skin. All that fear and panic came for me at that moment, but while it was happening I was able to face the hypothetical danger rationally.
Yeah, slow reaction. But it is not always that slow. I remember that our 'gang' was exploring an abandoned building. Suddenly, a beggar guy jumped out from nowhere and started chasing us. Man, I think I never ran faster in my entire life.
For the list of phobias, see these two:
http://wikipedia.ws/wikipedia/li/List_of_phobias.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-phob-#Psy ... conditions
LOL at phallophobia. I myself was lucky to 'start' few such girls, from which only one not in my homeland.

heh...I used to know a girl like that too. Seeing/knowing her repulsion for the male member, I never quite got why she wanted to have sex in the first place anyway. Yet she was very adamant about the whole thing, perhaps even more enthusiastic than me. As long as she didn't have to see it or take it in her hands...
Weird shit.

I dunno Gree, but if I were that hung that I couldn't have sex anymore I wouldn't really find that a reason to brag about it.
I'll take a normal-sized package over your monster schlong anytime!
Well, that came out wrong.

Well, perception of size might differ. I don't consider myself anything err.. monsterish. No way.
Did anyone of us have much choice of picking the size in the end, eh?

ugh, I thought he said pricking the size. Schlong talk, how far we've progressed.
Anyway, I overcame my claustrophobia by facing it. But it wasn't a completely incapacitating type of fear. I basically just put myself in a really claustrophobic place (a large drainage pipe, actually) and stayed there until I wasn't afraid any more. :p
Regarding the fear of peckers, that must suck. Some phobias are genetic... but something tells me that wouldn't be... kinda hard to make children if you're afraid of man-tails.

All I have to say is poor Satis - I am afraid of like everything. I don't really let it stop me living but flying for one thing is very unpleasant for me. I am clausterphobic, and small planes freak me out bad. Plus I am a control freak and when flying I am not the one in control and well that makes me freak out and cry. Not pretty. I have to take Xanix type things to even be able to fly.
Then there is the snake thing. Yea - I even tried to work with a behavioral trainer to get over that fear by handling them, etc. Nope that didn't work. I see one on TV and I freak out. Poor Satis had some fish that look like snakes (not loaches much bigger) and well they liked to jump out of the tank. I was afraid to even walk in the room.
I am afraid of heights to an extent - but I still went skydiving. So while they are real fears I try to still live my life. I absoutly HATE elevators yet I will still take them if not crowded. If they are stuffed full forget it. I'll take the stairs.

Heh Shiny, it does sound like you're not the easiest person to run around town with. Are any of those fears the result of some traumatic event or have they always been there?
Cause, in the case of snakes, I always fail to see why people over here are afraid of them. There is only one poisonous snake in the whole of Belgium (the common adder/viper) and its bite can hardly kill a healthy adult. Obviously, Texas is another ballgame altogether in that regard.

In Serbia, esp. outside the city and in the mountain region, there are dozens of poisonous snakes. I am very well afraid of snakes, but for I don't know which are and which ain't poisonous. On the other side, if I was faced with a snake for which I knew it isn't poisonous, I would treat it as much lesser threat than a domestic dog (and those bitches need to get a heavy staff sometimes).
