Yes he is. Appearently he becomes quite powerfull later on, but nobody can bear having him around for so long.

I'm not surprised, I never really had him in my party. I didn't find dual class NPC's useless tho- Jahiera for one.

Dunno... I tough Nalia is not far. But one thing is worth of keeping Anomen alive> calling him "Aaaaaaaaah! (it's) No MEEEN!". No doubt that my PC representation and Sarevok would gamble to see who will be the first to punch him... if Jan isn't around to mess him up. lol

Nalia is so worthless she can't even pick the locks in her own castle.
Derf can tell all he wants about his little brother, but I think even he kicks derf's ass. ;)

I think even my paladin character would be considering the same.

No way, he doesnt have the patience i had. I levelled up a whole level killing just re-spawns of those carrion-crawler type things that petrified you.

Ooh... that remembers me of some of my most stubborn actions. I remember me trying to get rid of all the kobold commandos in the catacombs between the Firewine bridge and Gullykin willage. Gave it up after two weeks or a bit more. Other case was exterminating all the Ankhegs in the area south of Baldur's Gate entrance. That one was successful.

If i recall correctly it even was a quest given to you by some rangerlike woman. It were quite some Ankhegg but to complete it you didn't even had to kill the ones in the cave on that map. So i completed that one on several occasions.

The kobold part always seemed like random respawning to me, i remember one of my earliest games i had my tank desert from me there and i couldn't get back since the place was filled with those pesky critters again.
I ended up having to start all over again.

So yeah GF, don't think you'd kill those all. Good effort though

The kobold spawnings were random. As soon as your fog of war obscured the place they respawned. You have to complete the quest. I hated them.

About Ankheg quest>
Quote:
You've come here to fight ankhegs? Well, listen up: it's mating season, so it's primarily females coming up to the surface, looking to put on a little extra weight. They're hungry, they're aggressive, and there are a lot of them. Now, the point of this exercise is not to exterminate them, but to keep their population to a manageable level. Remember, they aerate the soil and thereby improve crop yields by as much as 15%. Food is going to be scarce enough in the next few years, so keep that in mind when you're out there. No more than ten ankhegs per party. After that it's catch and release, alright? Most of the activity starts about fifty yards to the east. Now move out, everyone. I'll keep an eye on things from here.

Yah, I know but tell me a good reason why I should care. These beasts annoyed me a quitey much while I was on the 2nd level so I cleaned them in the 7th chapter. Really, I found no more Ankhegs after that action.

I ended up having to start all over again.

The first time I entered down there I didn't knew about Kobold Commondo respawn. Regretly, I entered too deep and was unable to go further or return back. After all the party members were dead, I entered as deep as I could into them (my HP was quite low) and commited the suicide by using Oil of Fiery burning. Quite much of them were killed. But bah... the second attemt was without dead on my side but it took over 2 BG weeks before I gave up, with great raise of xp, and even bigger amount of Fire Arrows.

@Myrddin -
You do not have to touch them in order to complete the quest as I remember. Just enter the catacombs from the Gullykin willage, kill the party down there and exit catacombs. When you return back there should not be (almost) any Kobold Commondo.

I was just saying they respawned when you couldn't see them and you had to complete a quest for it to stop.

Ok. When you know that you don't have to meet them in order to complete the quest, why you "hated them"?

I hated the respawnings cos it meant that I had to really stock up to go there and there was no respite against it.
