Ahh that one which I think I had problems viewing- damn this infernal internet at York uni, I can't even get messenger on this.

The hard-drive on this PC gets wiped every night and I'm having difficulties saving to my documents on the network at the mom so...

Yeah, it's standard in the latest Internet Explorer(s). Just go
Tools->windows messenger
It's a really primitive version of MSN messenger, but it certainly does the job. It's your friend in IT classes.
