2. A portion or share: a slice of the profits.
3.

2. A similar implement for spreading printing ink.
4. Sports.
1. The course of a ball that curves in the direction of the dominant hand of the player propelling it, as to the right of a right-handed player.
2. A stroke that causes a ball to follow such a course: a golfer with a bad slice.
3. A ball propelled on such a course.
4. A stroke, as in tennis, in which the ball is struck with a downward motion with the open face of the racket in order to impart backspin.

Satis I think you need a new dictionary.

Anyway, Derf, let me ask you this question.

Do you want to have 1 company who makes operating systems?
Do you want to have 1 company that makes games?
Do you want to have 1 company that makes video cards?
Do you want to have 1 tv station?
Do you want to have 1 website to visit?
Do you want to have 1 telephone company?
Do you want to have 1 car company?

Think about all the reason why having 1 of the above and apply it to goverment and that should answer your question why globilzation is a bad idea.

Now, do you really want to have 1 government? Think about it.

Ah but the current problems we have today with monopolies and centralisation are based on our human culture (the fact that we abuse them).

So we can either:

1. find a middle groud (like today)
2. totally decentralise (city-states or anarchy)
3. wait for a culture change

For me, globalisation is dependant almost entirely by #3.

The culture will never change in favor of globlisation. If anything the culture would change in opposite.

The culture would change to a more decentralised system focused on smaller community than larger states.

For globilsation to work it would have to be forced or the general public would have to be completely dupped into thinking that its the best thing for them.

yea, I agree, I think the future would be more toward decentralization. Maybe loose confederations would make larger states...like the EU, sorta, but broken down into smaller constituent pieces. Something like the EU would be used to foster cooperation between parts, but the parts would maintain their autonomy.

Big government fosters beaurocracy, which causes inefficiency and corruption. I think keeping it small and simple is the best way to govern people.

As we've noted before, the reason that direct democracy worked was because it was small and simple so I'm with Satis here.

I beg to differ...the reason why it worked was because men were allowed to have young boys for lovers. That is the true way to democracy.

*note* if the FBI/ BOB is reading this: this is a joke.
