Post Language?
Ok, so this voicemail was left. I have no clue what language it is. Anyone here understand it? Something tells me it's eastern european and not arabic, but I could be mistaken. However, we're a pretty eclectic bunch so if it is eastern european, I'm willing to bet someone will be able to say what language it is, even if they can't translate it.

It's not a Slavic language. Sounds more like Jiddish or Hebrew if you ask me. :) I'll see if I find other opinions.

no idea. sounds like it has a taint of arabic in it (notice the h at the end of words) Its defenatly not estonian, latvian or lithuanian, not polish too. A friend of my brothers described polish language as a rusty train on its final journey.

Indeed, not a Slavic language. From eastern lands, Romanian, Magyar and ugly Albanian still stay in game.

Otherwise.. maybe some Germanic language. Phonemes used resemble to those from German language. I wouldn't say it is Arabian.

Heh, that sounds about right. :)

It's no Germanic language or Romanic language that I know either. We already excluded pretty much everything apart from 'exotic' or tiny languages.

@ Gfree: indeed, I heard some vague german influences as well. That's why I was thinking Yiddish or Hebrew.

Where Satis gets all those weird messages. I remember getting few phone calls from Taiwan and Hong Kong but that's all. :P

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't say it is any Romance language. Romanian language still not disapproved.

Now I got confirmation that it is not Magyar (Hungarian) neither.

I'd go for Hebrew, like Ox, or Jiddish off course, which is a strange blend of German and Hebrew.

Hehe...this is fun. :) Would you mind if I posted a question (unrelated to this forum) on another forum, using the sound clip?

It could definitely be Romanian, but I think I'd recognize more words in that (being a Romanic language). But I rarely ever heard Romanian and don't speak a word of it so no clue really.

If you do so, please do also ask what it says. :P

Funny that this topic has been started today. Several hours ago I got a question like (in English):

"what the hell is that retarded fucked up language?!!"

Right here:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YDyqyYrcbrM

Of course, the clip is on Serbian and the comment got wiped away. :P

If it is Yiddish, it is some strange variant. Definitely I take this Yiddish has more in common with German than the language from the recording:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... dish&hl=en

Lets remind that the recording doesn't have any clear German word. Just phonemes. I just heard some of these:

http://yiddish.haifa.ac.il/Stories.html

I wouldn't say it is Yiddish I hear on these pages.

Yeah, it probably ain't Yiddish. Still, Hebrew remains a good candidate.

lol, this is an active topic. :p I don't mind if you repost it... I'm sure it has nothing to do with me, my job, or my company. Just some randomness.

I agree, some of the phonemes sounded Germanic, but there was some of the guttural tch type noises that made me think arabic and some that 'sounded' eastern or northern european to me. Looks like we're ruled out quite a bit of those, though, so I don't know. Yiddish is still possible.

Anyway, glad I sparked some interest with that. :P
