Well that's the problem of the people doing the hiring, not a problem with the machine? Do you have CRB checks over there? Not sure if they'd be called the same thing - Criminal Records Bureau check.
Basiscally, a lot of places over here won't hire you unless you pass one, especially working in security or with children.

yea, we have a the concept of security checks and background checks and whatnot. What those entail depends on the job. A big part of the problem with the TSA is that they can't afford to pay any kind of decent wage, so most people that would be truly qualified for the job would never go for such a tiny salary. *shrug*

Re: UK secretly harvests energy workers' organs
Like I said, I don't really care if the machines are only showing the images to a few people and I wouldn't care if those people were Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin or Marc Dutroux (a Belgian child molester). It's the principle. Because if we allow ourselves to be worked over like this, next time something like this comes up people are going to say "well but we're already doing full bodyscans, so I don't see what the big fuss is if we do X [insert even more invasive 'security' measure]." And for the people who say they've got nothing to hide...they scare me. If someone doesn't have SOMETHING to hide, they're either a paragon of humanity, lying, or a member of the facebook generation*. Either way, they'd be fucked up and/or scary. The shit we have to hide may not pertain to terrorist mumbo-jumbo or even criminal acts, but we sure as hell wouldn't want to share it with the world. * http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/fa ... _is_ov.phphttp://mddailyrecord.com/generationjd/2 ... -is-right/

gotta love zuckerberg... just because he made facebook doesn't mean he's not an idiot. Privacy is dead when they pry it out of my cold, dead fingers. Err, anyway, the thing about law is that everyone breaks them, every day. You may not realize it, but there are so many laws, and so many contradicting or unenforced laws, that you're bound to be breaking one or another quite often.

Huge spaceships fly to the Earth!
These objects are known for some time, and they're real. NASA does not want to disclose them and to avoid the public eye. These alien ships are moving toward Earth and the Government knows about it! [redacted]

Not entirely sure if that was spam or just someone dropping in to drop some actual links? Obviously I didn't click them, since they look really spammy. But his post would kind of fit in the thread so yeah...I didn't delete it.

I find the alien blabbering amusing, but I whacked out the links to combat the spammer from using it to boost page rank.
