Some of the comments are worth reading too.

Heh that sale part is so true. The amount of people that buy crap just because it's half price. Just have to look in Asda when they drop the price of things going out of date. It's great value if you know you'll use it or can freeze it/store it to keep it edible. Otherwise you're just wasting £3 or whatever on something that you would never have bought normally.

I once saw some woman buy like 10 loaves of bread because they were on sale. She came across as pretty much retarded, though.

My step dad does that, but not with dumb things like bread that goes bad. Like soda's, you go to my mom and stepdads house and my mom is literally sending me home with soda because they have so many. Canned goods and frozen foods, if they are on sale hes buying it. Its sorta of extreme but I have to admit the man is a genius with his money.

/me suddenly feels bad about those steam sales

Bizarrely, I am also the guy who refuses to turn up the heating in the winter, mostly because it costs (a lot of) money. I also don't shower for 2-3 days in a row when I don't have to go out and do the dishes once every 1.5 week. And eat sandwiches and bread a lot cause it's cheap as shit.

Did I mention it's like -10 C° at night? Getting from the bathroom to my bedroom post-shower is a nightmare.

lol... I can identify with a lot of that, except the showering. Maybe it's because I'm an American, but if I don't shower at least once a day, I feel nasty. It's really twice a day, sometimes more. Different strokes for different folks and all, but bleh.

As for stockpiling canned goods, there's nothing wrong with that if you have the space. If I had room for it, I would do that as well. The stuff lasts pretty much indefinitely (though, imo, soda does go bad after a few months) and you never know when the zombie apocalypse will happen. I'd hate to have to venture out of my safe room for food or soda.

yet Satis gets mad at me for stock piling canned goods. He says we don't have room, yet they all fit in the pantry! pfft.

My dad is a sales kinda guy or at least was when he shopped for himself. However, with that said he had like 15 bottles of shampoo in the cabinet when he moved out. I realize he got most of them free but who has room to hold 15 bottles of shampoo. Then again I guess he doesn't wear makeup/other hair products/bubble bath/shower gel, etc. I will say I think it insane but my dad has managed to do well with his money. Although I would totally question his car obsession. He has so many freakin cars. Some of which are freakin cool like the model T, the Tiffany Limo, but man it is crazy!

lol. I still shower when I have social contact. But what's the point really when you stay inside for 2-3 days in a row and maybe pop in and out a neighbourhood store for 20 minutes at most? In the summer I wouldn't do it, since I sweat like a pig and there's stuff to do outside, but in the winter it's ok. :P

I hear what you guys are saying on the canned food. I have a shitload of canned food and unperishables, but nothing specifically preparing me for the zombie apocalypse. I should work on that. Maybe get an autoshotty too, and move as far away from Derf as possible. Wouldn't want to end up in a saferoom with him!

No crazy obsessions like cars either. Don't smoke, don't own a car (no taxes or gas money), rarely turn on the heating or more than one light at a time in my apartment, don't call often (rarely even), don't buy expensive clothes, furniture or food and don't have a girl. About the only things I spend money on are books, movies and games, and the occasional beer at a bar or restaurant visit. Quite...frugal, you could say.

P.S. in before the "relation between cheapness and lack of girl" comments :P

hah...the girl / cheapness thing was totally on my mind, you bastard. Thanks for ruining that for me. I'm actually thinking about buying a shotgun... y'know, for home defense...against zombies.

specifically the benelli m4 tactical shotgun

Too bad it's a tad pricey. I may have to settle for a lesser model.

Well, dont buy the SSD, save the money, lol, well i cant say its more reasonable but well atleast it feels good when you hold it unlike the SSD. You wont be attacking any zombahs with the SSD though :D

I can store game about killing zombies on the SSD, then beat the zombie to death with it, and still play the games afterward.
