Well this is one site that has the story but its still not enough to convice me its true. Im sure there have been incidents like this but this just sounds too good to be true. Ejoy the humour but be skeptical about it not being fake.

yea, I doubt it's true. When dead people are involved, companies tend to get pretty careful. It's quite easy to end up on the wrong side of a lawsuit if you're being a bastard to someone who just lost a loved-one. Still, it's entertaining.

Did I tell you the (true) story about priests and stuff not wanting to complete a funeral ceremony before they received the official note that the last penny came to their bank account?

And besides, you guys over there don't have idea how law is strong in US in comparison to some other countries (rather many of them). There are places where law and justice are things reserved only for rich people to have joy in and even to form and reshape them as they like.

That's true enough. The US, though sue happy, at least respects law to some degree. You just have to be able to spend the money to afford a lawyer and fight something. I imagine most of western Europe is similar. But when hitting 2nd and especially 3rd world countries, I'm guessing the average person just doesn't have the cash to do that. Either that or they don't have the freedom to even fight it.

Money needed to sue and take a lawyer is an unquestionable prerequisite. But there is something else: inefficient and corruptible law apparatus. The one who has (more) money can bribe judges and stuff to make the case last for an eternity (till the opponent die or give up?). And under certain circumstances the nature of the case is such that it can last for decades (literally) just because the law plain sucks.

I will take just a simple thing from everyday life: trains. Since this year it is forbidden to smoke in trains. Money penalties for being caught in act are quite high. Still, nobody cares. The guy who works in the car (and is supposed to take care of people smoking) smokes himself or don't care. Of course, you can sue anybody smoking there, but it will take a hell of paperwork and need witnesses an stuff. Well, nobody smoked in my room... yet. But if that happened I would be forced to use *words* and then *swords* but calling for some sort of law wouldn't mean anything in craziest dreams.

A camera would be useful in a case like that.

I thought of that, but am not sure whether it can be used as a proof. I think the law prohibits it unless there was sort of a certified observer who'd confirm the recording is authentic.

take a picture and then provoke them into either attacking you or something. Anything goes for that matter which would cause an incident of somekind and requires official action to be taken.

Why when I can lock myself in my cabinet and open a window? You know... provoking incident with a group of people threatened of charges may be kind of ending up in ER.
